Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 42 – Summer Fun

Hello!!  The weeks really are flying now, and we are well into summer -well supposedly we are - in my little corner of the world it's been all seasons in the space of a week!!

This weeks Scrapbook Sister's card challenge is willing the warmer weather to make a more permanent appearance by the theme of

although not the sort of warmer weather that saw 30+ temperatures during the day on Sunday and Monday, and 25+ on Monday night - I need my sleep and it was too hot and muggy for me!!

Anyway, enough of blah blah blah and British moaning about it's too hot/too cold/too wet and onto todays card...

What can I say about this card, well I spotted this little cutie "Flying Frog" by Nellie Snellen when I went to my class at scrapping Scrapbook Sisters last Tuesday, and Karen had just unpacked the box and I just HAD to have her!!  I wanted to do something Fresh, so went for Bo Bunny and Doodlebug papers and I've been itching to use this wired oversized ribbon for a while.

The sentiment is by Kraftin Kimmie and seemed to fit the image perfectly :-)

I couldn't resist and added a bit of sparkle here and there... and a few flowers, LOL!

Halfway through fussy cutting this little Miss I was seriously regretting my decision as the wand was getting a bit wobbly, but now she's stuck onto the nestie all is well :-D

I'd love to enter these challenges please!

Thanks for stopping by, I'm looking forward to seeing your creations

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 34 - Christmas in June, New Stamps and a Blog Hop!!!

Good morning!!

I know it's only June (or maybe July, depending on when you are reading this!!), but Christmas has come early at Ladybug Crafts Ink and the LCI Challenge blog!  Kerry has a new release of Christmas stamps and we are having a Blog Hop to celebrate, and there are oodles of chances to win, so why not grab yourself a cuppa and join in :-D

If you are already hopping you should have arrived from Michele's Blog, if not, then pop on back to Kerry's Blog and start from there.  I'm sure you have figured the rules of the hop by now (and us Ladybugs don't like rules so there aren't many!!)

a) Visit each of the DT members and leave a comment on each of their blog hop posts.
b)  leave a comment on the challenge blog stating which is your most favourite of the new images once you have finished the hop.
c) Display the blog hop banner below on your blog, either in a post or on your side bar.

All the blog hop winners will be picked at random and the top prize winner of the blog hop wins all 4 stamps in the new release and five runners up will win one stamp of their choice (from the new release!)  And all for leaving a teensy comment!!

The hop will close 12pm midday GMT on Monday 4th July and winners will be announced at 9am GMT on Tuesday 5th July

Your next stop on the hop is Gaelle

Housework over, and onto this weeks challenge (you can win a prize and top three badge as normal!!) and this week it is the turn of Amanda to pick the theme, and she is obviously more organised than me because she has picked

I used Gotcha which features both Jack and Robyn, although I think Robyn seems to have the upper hand in the snowball stakes :-D

And I used my new Marianne Creatables embossing/cutting folder - The space in the middle was MADE for this image!! and I couldn't help by blinging up the dots created by adding more than a touch of stickles!!

The snowflake is cut from another Marianne Die, and I finally figured out how to use thin dies to cut felt (pop the felt and the die between a folded sheet of plain paper!!) and used it to cut some Love In a Mist Felt also from LCI.  The blingy button is from the haberdashery department at John Lewis (OMG they had a gorgeous one that I so wanted for this card, but it was £8.50 per button!! I love making cards, but there was no way I was paying that for a button!!)

All of that sits on some white suede ruffle ribbon, which is perfect for adding a bit more texture to your Christmas Cards. The papers are some Bo Bunny from the 2010 release.
And that's not all as the new release are available until the 5th July for the special price of £5.50 (£6.50 thereafter) which is a bargain for the stamp as each one comes with two sentiments (the one I used and "Gotcha!)

I'd like to enter these challenges please!!
Have fun and I'm looking forward to seeing your festive creations :-), thanks for stopping by

Gotta run!!

Good afternoon!!

It's been one of those weeks where I haven't seemed to have five minutes to myself, work has been busy, and then there's been the usual running around after the kids, plus making a spanish costume, parent/teacher talks, a school event yesterday, big son to cub camp last night and then I should put in an appearance at the school fete this afternoon, but I'll see how time goes  Oh and my fortnightly scrapbook class on Tuesday!!  My poor little feet hurt!!  I popped out to Scrapbook Sisters earlierfor a bit of me time (and just a little spend... well it'd been rude not too!!)  HB and I are planning on getting MIL/FIL to babysit the small one this evening and go out for a bit of adult conversation, and a bit of a chill out.

Anyway, one of the cards I had to make was for one of small sons nursery school teachers who was leaving to move away as her HB has a job miles away :-(  She looked after big son from when he was 2 and small son from when he was 3 months, so has been a big influence on them, and I wanted to make her a special card to say thank you.  Poor love spent most of her last day in tears, it must have been so emotional to leave.

Anyway, I thought I had a bit more time to make the card than I actually did, but head ladybug Kerry came to my rescue by getting Guilty Jack to me (thanks Kerry!!)

I toyed with using kiddy papers but settles for something soft and lucious instead

I've done similar before, but I was in a massive hurry to get this one finished and this wasn't the time to get all experimental :-D

Don't you just love Jack - how can you tell him off when he looks like that :-)

I did the inside too, and the sentiment seemed appropriate for her

I can't remember who the sentiment is by, but it is from a big set of boy phrases...

I wrote on the other panel, and made her cry again!!

In case you haven't spotted it Ladybug Crafts Ink stamps are the giveaway on the front of Simply Cards and Papercraft this month - I found a copy, but they are brilliant images and are sure to sell fast, so get your's quick!!

Anyway, that's it from me today, have a great weekend

Fathers Day Card... last one for this year!!

Good morning!!

Today I am sharing the last of the Father's Day Cards - yes I know it was last Sunday, but I didn't post it then, and I am quite pleased with this one, so I'm sharing it now... better late than never :-D

Just a quick update before I share my card... last night I started making big son's costume for his Spanish Day tomorrow... yep, Spanish day.  I mean seriously, what 9 year old has a Spanish costume hanging in his wardrobe ready to wear (OK, maybe if we lived in Spain, but we don't... dressing up here follows the standard themes of Doctor, Knight, Fireman, Cowboy, Pirate kinda things... national dress has not featured so far...)

Anyway... his class has learnt some sort of dance, I think it is a 9-year old friendly take on a Paso Doble... so far he's wearing black trousers, tucked into white socks with a red velvet trim (sewn on), black shoes, and a white grandad collar shirt.  I am sewing my way through a cummerbund, and SIL has donated a moustache.  That sounds all wrong!!! It's one of those ones that grips to your nose... I didn't like to ask why she had a moustache tucked away in her kitchen drawer!!!  I'll try and get him to try it all on tonight and take a picture in full matador pose... If I can bribe him enough I'll post the pic later :-)

LOL, enough of my chit chat... onto the card!!  (well in a kinda roundabout fashion!!)

OK, so you need to know a few things... ever since I can remember my parents have had a VW camper of one sort or the other... I remember a blue one with a split screen, but when I was little they got a new one with a pop up roof and bunks up the top.  It's bright (as in 1970's bright) yellow!!

We used to pack the van up at the beginning of the summer holidays and just go.  Somethings's we'd have a return crossing booked, sometimes not, and we would pootle all over Europe in this bus, one year it took us to 10 different countries by the time we had to come home because school was starting two days later!!

Now my Dad used to race motorbikes and as such likes a tinker (thus the climbing ladders aged 81, two weeks after getting out of hospital...), and decided at some point that the standard engine was a bit boring... so dumped it in favour of a big Porsche engine with twin Webber Carbs, and all sorts of other bits and bobs...  There is indeed a wolf hiding behind the original 1970's patterned curtains but these day's he's in need of a bit of TLC (the bus,Dad's OK now, LOL!!) , but hey, he's 33 and I'm older and there are days where my paint is wearing thin too... but I don't think Dad'll ever sell him.  And after driving the thing I can assure you that there is nothing more satisfying than beating a boy racer off the lights.
When you are middle aged.
A Woman.
And driving a bright yellow brick/bus.
With curtains.

And the added bonus, that when you get bored you can pull over and make a nice cuppa :-D

So to cut a long story short, when I saw my DT buddy Lisa's daughter had set up her very own Digi store, Squidgi Digi and had a pretty much spot on Camper Van for sale (female version also available!!) and some retro sentiments too, I was sorted for Dad's card!!

Here's my card

Papers are by Bo Bunny and Echo Park; Bazzill CS; Paula Pascal sentiment; Squidgi Digi image and Sentiment, buttons from stash; Nesties; Cuttlebug Embossing folder

I did a double spodge of Glossy Accents on his indicators and headlights to make them a bit more domed, and coloured the bumper in again and 3D'd it, and stamped the numberplate and 3D'd that too...

And the inside

And back to the front...

Needless to say, he thought it was brilliant (and not just cos I made it!!), so thanks Lisa and Beth for the images - just brilliant :-D

Right that's my lot for today

I'd like to enter these challenges please

I also used the sketch from the Stamp Fairy, but don't hink I can enter as this isn't one of their image, but thanks for the inspirational sketch!!

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge 41 - Anything Goes

Long post warning!! - Grab yourself a cuppa, or skim to the important bits, it's up to you!!

Hello!! Can you believe it's Wednesday already!! That means it's this weeks card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters, and this week it's a breeze, because the theme is...

Anything Goes

Time is really flying now we are more than half way through the year... not that you'd know it looking out the window - I think we had our two weeks of summer here in the UK in May... I think the pool will go unused again this year - we emptied it out last year in early August as we weren't using it enough to warrant heating the thing... gosh that sounds a bit posh - I'm going to add there it's only one of those deep ones that you get on eBay - and a length takes me all of three strokes!!  Still the kids love it, so fingers crossed it gets more use this year.

I love summer, but I quite like Autumn, not just for the beauty of the season but that Autumn means the start of this years Strictly Come Dancing (like Dancing with the Stars, but the UK version, same judges, same format though!!).  Who wouldn't love to be able to look like that... well maybe not Ann Widdecome... move like that, and *sigh* those dresses...

Just as well that Scrapbook Sisters and Gayle Bond have come dancing to my rescue (see what I did there!!!), by launching these beautiful new range of digi's... and once I had them printed out I just HAD to do something with all three!!

Gayle's background in fashion design really comes to the fore with these images, the shape of the bodies, and the flow of their clothes are perfection, no tricky "where is the shade" with these lovlies :-)

OK, deep breath, here's card one.  I adore this image, it is so romantic, and I have done it as a wedding-ish card, but would suit a birthday just as well.  I stuck to black and white, and coloured the gentleman in with copic BV29.

Papers/CS - Bazzill; Bo Bunny Double Dot;  Theresa Collins; Doodlebug.
Image - Gayle Bond for Scrapbook Sisters
Sentiment - Whimsey Stamps
Embellishments - Prima Flowers; Papermania glitter brads; Black Diamond gems; velvet ribbon; Making Memories ribbon slider; Stickles
Tools - Lacy circles nestie; Whimsey ticket die; Sizzix Diamonds embossing folder

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges please

I'm hard pushed to say what image is my favourite, although I will admit to being very envious of this ladies legs and her dress is divine!!... good grief, what is going on with me, I'm jealous of an image!!

Supplies:
Papers/CS - Bazzill; Bo Bunny; Doodlebug.

Image - Gayle Bond for Scrapbook Sisters
Seniment - Whimsey Stamps; Papertrey Ink
Embellishments - Wild Orchid Flowers; black self stripe organza ribbon;
Tools - Lacy circles nestie; Whimsey ticket die;  MS border punch
And oh my, what posture!!  Again, I coloured the gentlemen in BV29

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

And finally, a funky image, but I couldn't resist adding a bit of bling to her shoes

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

Supplies:
Papers/CS - Bazzill; Sandylion
Image - Gayle Bond for Scrapbook Sisters
Sentiment - Whimsey Stamps; LCI
Embellishments - Wild Orchid Flowers; Black and Red Ribbon; Black Pearls; Button
Tools - Lacy circles nestie; Whimsey ticket die; MS border punch; Tim Holtz Brick Wall embossing folder
She's so sassy, that this paper was the obvious choice for her!!  Again the guy is in sillouette, well they would be with ladies as gorgeous as these!!

Cool huh???

I'd like to enter these challenges please

Are you still with me???

Hope you like the new images and have time to join in with this weeks Anything Goes challenge...

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 33 - use red somewhere on your project

Good morning!!

This week at Ladybug Crafts Ink  it is the turn of the lovely Gaelle to set the challenge, she'd like to see...

Red

I decided to use red on the image, which is The Ruffle from the Shoes and Bags collection (you must check out the flip/flops and beach bag image - perfect for summer cards!), and as an accent to these gorgeous MME papers

The all too true sentiment is one of three that come with the image

I accented the ruffle on the shoes and the metallic bits on the bag with glossy accents, and added a length of Antique Gold Lace Velvet, also available from the Ladybug Crafts Ink store.

A Marianne florish and oodles of flowers completed this card... as ever it looks SOOOOO much better in real life than my dodgy photos will ever allow (although I have asked for a light tent thingy for my birthday, so things may improve!!)

I'd like to enter these challenges
Creative Inspirations - Stitching
Stamps R Us - Recipe - 1 Image, 2 papers, 3 embellishments (ribbon, flowers, gems)
Crafts for Eternity - Embellishments starting with R - Ribbon, Roses and Red gems
Stamp Something - Pretty Papers
Cute Card Thursday - Birthstones (red gems for Ruby, my birthstone for July!)
Digi Doodle Shop Challenge - Stitching
Stampin B's - Use a Border Punch

Before I go, next week is a Big one, as there are some amazing new stamps being release, and I promise that you will be unable to resist!!

To celebrate we are having a blog hop, so why not grab the banner and pop it on your sidebar and spread the word?!

And... (gosh there is a lot going on isn't there!!)... have you seen Kerry's Blog Candy??  It's an amazing giveaway already, BUT she is adding more to it every single day until 22nd July... so it is a bumper prize, all you have to do is leave a comment and become a follower (if you aren't already)

This is the prize on offer when I wrote this post, but check Kerry's blog for the most up-to-date picture

Looking forward to seeing your entries :-)  Thanks for stopping by!!

Just a quick post

Good evening

Just a quick post from me then bed is calling :-)

It's been a busy weekend, despite me getting crafters block in the second half of last week, I managed to get this card and a few more done which I will share over the next few days

I followed the sketch over at Truly Scrumptious, and die cut, embossed and inked this lovely butterfly.  The purple panel to the left has been run through a dotty embossing folder and sanded back to reveal the core

I'd also like to enter these challenges

Have a great week

Chillin!! And finally, news on the school....

Good morning!!

Well, do you want to know what has happened on the school front... well yesterday I came home to a letter... and...

WE WON THE APPEAL!!!!!

whoo hoo!!!!

I had convinced myself that we wouldn't have and life would change dramatically for us all, but somehow it seems as if that we managed to convince the appeal board that the reasons for putting our youngest in the same school as his brother were stronger than the schools reason for denying him a place in the first instance.  Relief doesn't quite cover it!!  HB opened the letter passed it to me (we hadn't got through the front door at this point!)  and both kids watched on as their parents did the full on, jumping up and down, going oh so slightly potty, happy dance round the garden :-D

I'd just like to thank all my friends and followers for all their support and encouragement... especially Amanda who seemed all set to jump on a jet plane and kick some bottoms on my behalf, lol thanks for that Amanda, just the tonic I needed :-)... seriously though, everyone's kind words meant a lot :-D

Right then, onto the important business of the day :-)
I couldn't resist, I just had to have another little play with this little cutie from The Paper Shelter, but went a bit cooler in colours this time :-)

I've had this Paper Adventures "Go Fish - Fresh Water Wash" paper in my stash for a while, uncut and just waiting to get cut up, and I don't think I have used this Marianne Die either (I know, shame on me!!), and even worse, I've never used these Prima blooms either (I know, I'm hanging my head and apologising profusely now...), but both the flowers and the die seemed perfect to go with the tropical feel of this card, and with the flower in her hair

This time I cut her out and popped her on a some circles, embossed with my current favourite dotted swiss embossing folder.

I quite like that I have only used one paper design for this card, as I thought there was enough interest in this one to carry it, and not get too fussy!!  The sentiment is by PTI, stamped with Momento.

I'd like to enter this card for these challenges

Thanks for looking, Sue xx

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 40 - Bunting and Banners

Good morning,

Before I show you today's card, you might like to your sunglasses because this one is bright!!  I am determined to make summer finally arrive despite the cold and rain!!

OK, sunnies on??  If not don't say I didn't warn you!!

OK, this weeks Scrapbook Sisters Challenge is

I'm going to be honest, this was NOT my original card for this challenge, which was far more clean and simple than this one!!  But I just couldn't get it to work, so I'll keep fiddling until I am happy - if not it'll go in the recycling bin :-)

I used a Paper Shelter image, and went a bit tropical with the inking round the edge :-)  Check out her shiny sunglasses and glass - don't ya just love glossy accents!!

I hand cut the bunting, and stamped it with a sentiment and then stitched it onto some ribbon, not as easy as I thought it would be!!

The papers are assorted Bo Bunny and Echo Park (I think!), and an X cut die cut, some more stitching, dotty organza and flowers finished this little cutie off.

After I abandoned project one after faffing and paper shuffling for hours this one came together quite quickly.  How irritating!!  If I'd just done her to start with instead of trying to be smart, I'd have had more time to carry on crafting, and got less stressed!!   Lesson learnt :-)

Thanks for stopping by!!  Looking forward to seeing your cards

I'd like to enter these challenges please

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 32 - Number Crazy!

Good morning!!

Can you believe we are halfway through June already!!  Not that you would have known it from the weather last weekend, I got so chilly and was so desparate to get the washing dried I turned the heating on, and that shouldn't be allowed in June!!

Anyway, enough of my prattling on, being all British and moaning about the weather :-)

This week over at Ladybug Crafts Ink challenge it it the turn of the lovely Tams, and she would like to see

Numbers
somewhere on your card or project.  It can either be the main focus or as an accent, as I chose to do.

Birthday's, Anniversary's and more... and it doesn't have to be a special one... if you want to make a happy 47th Birthday card, go ahead!!

Anyway, I made a card for a colleague who has just turned 50, I'm a teensy bit late, but I think she'll forgive me!!

I decided to colour up Winestool Nikki as she hasn't been inked up in a while, then teamed her with a really elegant paper by The Paper Company "Secret Garden Showers of Flowers"

I stamped a panel with a text stamp and embossed it with holographic embossing powder, and embossed another panel of the "Love Potion" Bazzill that I have used throughout with my Swiss Dots embossing folder, and stitched round all of the panels with some lavender thread.  I tied an oversized bow with some Orchid Berrisfords ribbon.

I've used a selection of flowers and cut Nikki out with my Marianne Creatables die,  I've added stickles to Nikki's dress and shoes, and made "50 Today" using the really versatile Sentimental Numbers, and distressed the panels with some old inkpads I found in my drawer.

I kept the inside simple, and used the It's Only Words Sentiment set

I'd like to enter these challenges please!!

Thanks for stopping by, looking forward to seeing your projects

Is this less is more??

Evening...

After last weeks disaster where I entered the less is more challenge, only to find out my monochrome card wasn't monochrome enough, I decided to give the whole less is more thing one last shot.  I really like the style, but maybe it isn't "me" and I should give up :-/

Anyway, this week the theme is Frames, so I have stamped the freebie from the current Craft Stamper Magazine onto white Bazzill and made a frame by embossing a nestie onto the CS, a Congratulations sentiment from the Baby Baby set by Ladybug Crafts Ink (I notice this excellent value Baby stamp set is back in stock!!), and some gorgeous pewter ribbon and there you go.  Oh I did add a touch of Black Diamond Stickles to the droplets of the chandelier, and I really hope this doesn't mean that I don't count again!  The way I feel today, that might just tip me over the edge!!

I've done this as a wedding kinda of a card, and love it, so classy!!

Gosh reading back I sound really down!!  Actually I was hoping that I would have had a letter today from the school board over the appeal to get the kids in the same school, but NOTHING!!!  And I'm not allowed to ring them to find out, just got to wait for this stupid letter to find out what they have decided, and the impact this will have on our family.  Seriously, it'll be nearly a week, the letter is only coming from 20 miles away... someone could have hand delivered it quicker!!

We've gone through everything again and if we have been unsuccessful in the appeal then the only choice will be for me to give up work, which is insane for me to have spent tens of thousands on childcare in their preschool years only to be forced to give up work when the youngest starts school because some idiot thought that I can bend the laws of space and time and get them to two different schools at the same time.

LOL, can you tell I am soooooooooo frustrated waiting for this letter, so we know where we are!!  Then I can get on and deal with it, being in limbo is driving me crazy!!

Sorry for waffling...

Please can I enter my card for these challenges

In an English County Garden number 2

Hi, just a quick post this morning, as I have one hundred and one things to do today...

Depending on how I go, I might post again today, then again I might not :-D

Anyway, on Tuesday night I  was at my scrapbooking class at Scrapbook Sisters and was all on edge for the appeal the following day (STILL have not heard, getting annoyed now!!)  You know what it's like when you can't focus, and I probably annoyed the hell out of poor Louise who had the misfortune of sitting next to me... sorry Louise.  Anyway, I did one layout, and then got all distracted.

And the papers were singing "Card, card, card" to me... but I didn't have any images with me... or my copics... humph.

But the girls sell copies of their digi's in the shop, and I had inks a plenty in my bag, so I made a quick card, using the inks and a brush to stipple the colour on.

I've never coloured like this before, and I quite like the soft look it gives.  I've no idea if this is a proper technique, or if I was doing it correctly :-)  I wasn't that fussy about keeping to the lines of the image, just using them as a general guide for where to apply colour

You can't see very well, but there are some dark green stickles in the centre of the flowers and glossy accents here and there on the water.

I'll post the layout later :-)

Land Ahoy!

What a week!

Wednesday found me and HB in front of an appeal board trying to get small son into the same school as the big one, talk about intimidating surroundings - they were held in one of the really old builings round here, in the wood panelled former study, at a big old table, with the three members of the appeal panel sat one side and us on the other.  Thankfully I had prepared fully so I knew exactly what I was going to say, and had all my arguements thought out.  Actually they were nice, but so much rests on the decision, that if I hadn't prepared as much as I did then I think I would have forgotten to say something that I thought was important and kicked myself afterwards.  As it was we have done all that we can, just got to wait for the results :-/

The headache that I had rumbling around since Wednesday, finally snuck up and got me on Friday morning, and had turned into a full blown migraine, with all the usual side effects thrown in as an added bonus, lovely!!  Fortunately I don't get them that often these days, so I'm keeping everything crossed that this is a one off and not a return to the bad old days when I used to get a couple a month!  HB had to come home and take the kids, as I couldn't see straight so I stayed in the dark and slept it off, finally surfacing at just gone 5.  Surprisingly I slept well last night, and we are off to a friends son's party this afternoon... good job my head is OK, as I suspect it is going to be a noisy one :-D

The theme is pirates - no idea why, but there are a lot of pirate themed parties about at the moment... anyone would think there was a pirate film out soon :-D - so I decided to do him a pirate card

The image is by Mo Manning, and I have added glossy accents to the end of his telescope, and I dug out some coins from the bottom of my stash.  I distressed the Sandylion papers and stitched everything onto black cardstock
I made a little scroll, distressed it with scissors and ink, stamped his name onto it and I made a tassel with embroidery silk.  I was aiming for the tattered, slightly singed look!!

The inside...

...and as I am giving the birthday boy money, I made a little treasure pouch

Before I go, Kerry has got a Blogaversary Candy going at the moment - this is a biggy as she is adding a something to it every day... for the next, errr, lots of days, until the 22nd July!!

Blogaversary Candy

That's it from me today - off to delight in goodness knows how many over excited children... wish me luck :-D

Going round and round...

Who took the writing off of my post!!

Anyway, I'll re-type it :-)  I don't like to stay quiet :-D

Today I am sharing the card I made for Amanda, one of my DT friends from Ladybug Crafts Ink.  I know Amanda lurves her bright colours, so I used some zingy green topped off with some gorgeous Red Berrisfords satin ribbon, and a Molly Blooms image, which I coloured with Copics and added glossy accents to her wellies and the pips in her hat.  The bunting was a MB freebie that came with a magazine a couple of months ago, and the layout was a Card Patterns one from a few weeks  back.

I hope Amanda liked it :-)
