Action!!! At Top Tip Tuesday

Hello!!!

I am sooooo late with my card this fortnight - I've no excuse except for being crazy busy at work and then my eldests 13th birthday, then me getting the flu!

Anyhooo, this fortnights theme is Action Images, and I think this little cutie from Lili of the Valley counts :-)

I used a cloud die to mask out the clouds then went round them with some distress ink.  I've not done this before but I like how it looks!!

Thanks for looking

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge - Birthday

Hello!

Just a quick post from me this morning with this fortnights LCI Challenge which this week is a nice easy one...

Which is just as well as my mojo has gone into hiding again :-(

Mind you, what on earth made me do a fairly guy-ish card I have no idea!

Anyway, I'm not going to rabbit on today ( I can hear you sigh with relief!!)

Here's my card

I used Magnum with the fish bowl from the add -ons and the Magnum Sentiments, they do make me chuckle and are great for all your feline creations (scrapbook pages too!)  Love the add on's as well - they are great with this portly puddy or on their own :-D

I used another of the sentiment stamps on the inside, along with some of the off cuts from the front - it's a MME pad, although my brain has gone blank and I can't remember which one!!

Hope you like it... there should be more creations being posted tomorrow, mojo depending!!

Until then, thanks for stopping by

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge - Shapes

Hello!

It's Sally's turn to set the challenge over at LCI this week and she has asked to see lots of

Shapes

in your design - think geometric and non-geometric and as many as you can get on your project and that'll be fine!

My card uses one of the new Teenager Digi's - Mobile Phone Josh - an absolute steal at £1.75, but you can buy any three of the teenagers for a bargain price of £4.50, or all 19 teen images for £19 - between them all you can have all your teen cards sorted!  If digi's aren't your thing,

Now I find cards for older kids/teenagers nearly as tricky as cards for men - they know what they like and as I get older I find it more and more peculiar... this is not a good thing as I have one son heading rapidly towards his teenage years... wish me luck!!

Anyway, enough of my waffle and onto my card

I've been using quite a few pages from my MME Miss Caroline - Dilly Dally and On the Bright Side - One 6x6 pads lately, so I have been gathering quite a few off cuts, and like many a crafter, can't abide to throw them away, so was really pleased to come across a sketch at Sketchy Colours that would enable me to use them up, and at the same time create a fab card.

The bonus was that it enabled me to count rectangles as another shape in my card, joining triangles (the bunting), circles and squares :-D  Actually I think this is one of my favourite sketches in a little while, and I can see it being used for CAS as well as this one which is quite busy... or WOW (just thought of that as I typed!)   I love this card, Josh is such a dude, and I think the combo of the image, papers and design might have stired my crafty mojo to wake up!!  LOL, time will tell :-D

Hmmm... sorry, waffling today!  As always I've printed Josh onto Neenah and coloured him with copics

Like I said, such a dude!  What else could I put on the bunting :-D   All the edges of the papers have been distressed with a TH distressing tool, and with Black Soot Distress inks - yep, went with the grunge good and proper for this card!

I used another off cut for the inside

The sentiment is also from LCI - here - and is included in the half price stamp sale that is ongoing to 17th April - the discount is applied at checkout - and is a fab opportunity to get some LCI stamps from £3.25!!

Right, I think I have waffled more than enough today - before I go please may I enter these challenges

Thanks for stopping by

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge - Dad's Birthday/Male Card

Hello!

I'm a bit late with this post, naughty me!!   It's a four day week here in the UK I've had to do OT to cover the hours that I had off yesterday... hmmm... something not right there!  And I'm not paid for it, I might get time off in lieu (although who knows when!) if I'm really lucky.  Must check if I have the word idiot written on my forehead later :-D.

Enough moaning, onto the card which is for this weeks Scrapbook Sisters Challenge which is

I ended up doing two cards, but before you get all excited they are both quite simple (mojo still hibernating...), I'll post the second one later!

First up, one made using the Papermania Portobello Road stamp set, which is all a bit retro looking

and some MME papers, which are from the Miss Caroline Dilly Dally Set, which are a bit surfer-dudish, LOL!!  I cut a tag with a TH die and stamped "Dad" with individual letter stamps (those little wooden ones - love them, but they are a nightmare to line up!!), and die cut a pinked edge to some more CS, and wrapped some co-ordinating ribbon round the card

I've coloured the image with Copics, popped Glossy Accents on the windows, cut it out and mounted it on a couple of die cuts - the Kraft one has been stamped with an Indigo Blu map background stamp and sprinkled with guilding flakes

Don't ask me what colour the Cor'dinations CS is!  It has been run through  a cuttlebug embossing folder and sanded, and some Woodware Screw Head brads add a bit more of a blokey feel to the corners

And I decorated the inside too with some off cuts and an LCI sentiment stamp (check out the half price offer on these at the moment!)

As I said, simple, but as it's my Dad's birthday next month it's one more card that I can relax over!

More later

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello

Quick post from me as I am having to log on through a dongle thingy (smirk. I know I'm far too old, but the word dongle makes me chortle like a 12 year old hearing a rud-ish word!!  seriousely, I SOOO need to get out more!!)

Long and short of it is that our internet is down, and only limited connectivity through the dongle/mobile phone... ah the beauty of living in the middle of no-where.  I'm assured that all will be fixed tomorrow, but I heard that Friday, Monday and Tuesday as well, so I'm NOT holding my breath!!

Anyway, this weeks Scrapbook Sisters challenge is a nice easy one - as it's Anything Goes... now normally I make girly cards, full of fuss and bling and details, but I have a run of male birthdays at the moment, so that's what I'm sharing today - hope you don't mind :-D

As my BIL is responsible for getting HB back into the Mini thing (he got a classic mini, then needled HB until he wanted one... the rest is history, although history is evolving!! ) Anyway, it seemed appropriate to use one of Gayle's fabby car images which you can find here.  BIL's Mini is in Tahiti Blue, which kinda set the tone for the card

I used some MME papers from the On The Bright Side 6x6 pad, a Bazzill button, twine, and a LCI sentiment carefully stamped onto two die cut labels.  I unned and ahhed over adding a bit more detail, but id I'm honest time was against me and nothing I hovered over the design looked right against this busy paper, but I liked the combo of the funky zig-zag pattern and the peeling paint (actually quite apt as peeling paint is the bane of a classic car enthusiast...), so left it simple, was that a cop out?  Maybe, but I like it as it is (I KNOW!!! me gettting all restrained and not adding the kitchen sink to a card... what ever next!!)

I'm not totally convinced I should have done the number plate yellow - correct for his car, but maybe a black plate would have looked better?  Then again it adds an extra pop of colour, so I'm torn!!

Amazingly I have quite a few cards to share over the coming few days, internet permitting, why is March such a busy time for birthdays!!

Hope you are all well

P.S.  Please may I enter these challenges

Just for a change a mans card!!

Hello!!

Today I am sharing a card one of my colleagues asked me to make for another of our colleagues, but OMG he's a man!!  I have the usual cardmakers block when it comes to making cards for men but I know he has a dry sense of humour, so this Bugaboo image was just the ticket :-D

Here's what I came up with

I took it in today and she gave it to him and he really liked it - she said she was a bit worried but he saw the humour... phew!!

I used some MME papers, and ran the checked piece through my ribbler for a but of texture.  I wanted to use ribbon, but that can look a bit feminine so used an olive grosgrain and looped it through a couple of holes .  A button from my stash tied with a bit of floss added a bit of interest, but kept it masculine :-D

Gotta love this Bugaboo image though, check out his slippers
I added glossy accents to his glasses, for a bit of a goggly look to his eyes

Please may I enter these challenges
Make It Monday with Kraft Outlet - Tie it Up (I hope the floss through the button and the ribbon counts!)

Thats it from me today, I'm trying to create a bit more this week, in the vague hope my mojo comes back with a bit of cajoling!!  Have a great weekend

Sparkle sparkle at Southern Girls

Hello!!

This fortnights challenge at Southern Girls is to Show us your Sparkle!!

The challenge is being very generously sponsored by Pink Gem Designs and Delicious Doodles for Australia and New Zealand and Little Claire Designs for international entries
I used the Digi Lambretta image from Little Claire's, which I think is really fab and funky! Now you know I love my glitter and sparkle, so no worries you'd have thought, trouble was I went all blue and red, then worried that my card was too masculine for a bit of bling, but hey it's a bit 70's inspired which I seem to remember I've been told it was a decade of glam rock and therefore I think the blingy scooter is fine :-D

Anyway, here's my card

I promise there is bling on there!!  Darn camera, why do I have trouble in taking pics when there is lots of sparkle!!

There is sparkle on the flag, the footplate and the wheel arch, and glossy accents on the lights :-D  I found the rather fabby ribbon in John Lewis the other day, gems are from my stash, various Bazzill c/s and the blue circle is embossed with a Tim Holtz brick embossing folder

I decided to make a greeting into a little flag and attach it to the scooter with some craft wire, which I think looks pretty cool!!

Please may I enter these challenges

Start as you mean to go on...

Hello!

Today is the first day back to school for my eldest son, and back to work for me after a relaxing weekend, I got cracking and made loads of cards after my mojo got well and truely knocked by the announcement of redundancies at work.  I still don't know if I'm going to be one of those that stay or go, I just wish they'd make their minds up and let everyone know as it isn't doing me any good worrying about things that may not happen!   Actually I hope they don't let me know today as it's a difficult day for me andI don't think it would take much to tip me over the edge :-(

Onto today's card

I was lucky enough to win Cute Card Thursday the other week, and was delighted to be able to pick two stamps from Kraftin' Kimmie - tough choice!  After much deliberation I made my selection, and inked them up as soon as they arrived... so without further ado, here's Samantha

She's a bit on the side of saucy, but not too naughty, if you know what I mean!! :-D.  I kept it simple and used some Creative Expressions papers, onto which I stamped a Kanban heart, and a Woodware sentiment, and I have cut around one of the wings and threaded ribbon through the paper (I HATE threading ribbon through paper, it makes me soooo nervous!!)

Please may I enter these challenges

Mini birthday

Just a quick post because I'm running late!!

Today I'm sharing the card I have made for HB's birthday the other day... OK, I'm going to fess up and say that

I had been putting off making it, because I HATE making cards for men,
I'd been getting all creative with my DT cards, and it kinda got waylaid
the wotsit didn't spend enough time in the garage at the weekend and I kept having to hide it (not easy when you are tying to get glossy accents to dry!)

Anyway, it ended up quite plain and simple, but it was personal as it had an approximation of his Mini on it (he did spot that I had left the lenses clear as he has on the real thing, and he liked it :-D

Supplies: Papermania Kraft card blank; Kraft CS; Bazzill Dotty CS; Scrapbook Sisters Car 5 image; saddle stitched ribbon; Ladybug Crafts Ink sentiment

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges please

Fingers crossed I'll have something to share tomorrow, hope you have a great day

Not a Mini, but...

Hello!!

Fingers crossed this post goes live as it's supposed to!  Hopefully it will as I should be camping as HB has persuaded me to go with him to a car show.  Actually at this point I may well be being used to haggle with traders over the price of what he wants, as I seem to be able to negotiate a better price than he can, LOL :-D

For today's post I should have coloured up one a Mini image by Gayle - available from Scrabook Sisters here - but I didn't which was silly, so all I have to show you today is a card I made for my BIL and SIL to give to their BIL (are you lost yet... I am!!)  He's into VW's and I had this image from Squidgi Digi already coloured up and SIL spotted it and asked me to make a card for her.    Hope that's OK, after all they are both classic cars :-D

As it's for a man I kept it simple but added his name to the numberplate.  I thought these Dream Street papers worked really well as they kind of look like the sort of thing you used to get on camper interiors around this time :-)

You can't see that well in the picture, but I cut out the bit in the pop out roof and added some acetate behind it, should have made a little pair of curtains now I think about it!!  There is glossy accents on the bumper, number plate and his eyes, and two coats on the lights and indicators.

The sentiment is from LCI, where a buy one get one half price is still on, don't miss it, or the free international shipping!!

Please can I enter my card into these challenges

Thanks for looking, hopefully there will be another post tomorrow

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge - 38 - It’s a man’s world

Hi, this week at Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge the theme is

It's a Man's World

I stuggle with mens cards at the best of times so I was delighted with this challenge, lol :-)  However the recent release of car digi's by Gayle seemed the perfect choice, not least because my HB seems to spend more time in the garage working on the mini than he spends inside the house :-D

I used Car Five and some Father and Son papers by Fancy Pants - these ones are Top Pop and the rather bizarrly named Stud Muffin!  (yes, really that's what's called - I had to double check myself... LOL!!).  I got the rather fabby ribbon from Scrapbook Sisters the other day - I think it's May Arts but i could be wrong!!

I haven't used a sentiment yet as I'm not sure if I'm going to use this for a fathers day card, or turn it into a birthday card... choices, choices!!

And I've only just noticed that when I took a picture there is a reflection off the glossy accented bumper, tyre, window and lights of my garden!!  No zooming in please, it needed a good going over when I took this pic :-)  This is what I get when I take my pics during the day, LOL!!

We are still working through the stomach bug in our house - both kids are back to normal but HB woke me at 4am to let me know he now had it... as you can imagine at that time in the morning I was so sympathetic :-D.  Particularly as he then spent the time before I had to get up sighing and fussing, and generally keeping me awake.  I was not impressed!!  Honestly I'd have made a terrible nurse, I just don't do ill people :-)  I'm keeping everything crossed that I have managed to avoid it!!

That's it from me today, looking forward to seeing your male creations!

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 37 - Row, Row, Row, Your Boat

Hi!  Today over at Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge the theme is

Row, Row, Row, Your Boat

I decided to make a masculine card using a Mo Manning Digi

I kept it simple, cos guys cards never seem to work for me if they are too fussy :-)

The paper is Basic Grey Urban Couture "Loselle", and I teamed this with a cream and mid brown CS.  The saddle stitched ribbon is also from Scrapbook Sisters.

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow :-)

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 29 - Animals

Good morning!

This week over at the Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge blog (akaTotally Ladybug Tuesday!) it is the turn of the lovely Pinky to set the challenge and she has chosen

I chose to use an animal as the main image, but as long as there is an animal somewhere on your card that's fine :-D

This card is for my Dad, who is 81 today, and he had cats on and off throughout his life, so I think he will appriciate Magnum!! (available here). The sentiment is also by LCI, as is the Meshy ribbon stuff :-)

Papers are by Fancy Pants, and the screw brads are by Woodware.

I'd like to enter my card into these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, I'm looking forward to seeing your creations :-)

Going Green

Hi, hope you are having a great weekend - my house is buried under the never ending piles of washing!!  It was a lovely day here yesterday, but up here on my hill there was a gentle breeze, so I took the opportunity to wash as many of the big things as I could.  Only trouble is now I have the ironing pile from hell!!

While the washing machine was chugging away I made a card or two and after all the black and white of the last few posts I thought an injection of colour was a good idea :-)

Seems as if I'm hung up on monochrome at the moment, what's that all about!!  Still with this Bugaboo image green was kinda a given :-)

The papers are assorted Bo Bunny as is the ribbon

I used the sketch from Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Please can I also enter

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow

Two Foxy

Hi, hope you are having a good day so far

I have to say I am NOT looking forward to this week as it is the first 5 day week here in the UK, as the last 3 weeks have had at least one public holiday, and working five days before I get a day off is going to be horrible!!

Still there is lots to look forward to as I have got some lovely cards to share over the next few days :-)

Today I am sharing two cards, but as they are pretty much the same I thought I'd post them together.  I made the first at the Scrapbook Sisters crop on Saturday, and made the second yesterday as I need to increase my stock of cards for men and this little minx is perfect for so many guys.

First up, {you}th papers by Prima, Black and Kraft Bazzill, Faux Stitching, Jet black Ribbon, and a button from my stash.  Papertrey Ink ticket sentiment which has been stamped and then thoroughly distressed!! Megan Foxy digi from Kenny K.  I love her, she looks like a modern take on the sort of thing that used to get painted on the front of planes!!

As I'd done her in red before I wanted to try her in a different colour, so went all dark...

This one uses Like Father Liek Son "Big Guy" papers from Fancy Pants and Timeless "Black Damask" by Teresa Collins, Black and White Bazzill, and a blue-black ribbon

I thought her hair might get lost on the dark papers if I made her a brunette, so I went blond for a change!

I'd like to enter my cards into these challenges

That's it from me today, have a great week and thanks for stopping by

Outta this world :-)

Good morning!!  Did you see the Royal Wedding yesterday... I tuned into the service and missed the build up, but oh my wasn't Catherine's dress exquisite??  So elegant, timeless, classic and modern all at the same time.  They really looked like a young couple in love... ahhh, you caught me, I'm a softy at heart.  Just normally hidden :-)

In between watching the wedding, and yelling at the kids !!) I got in some crafty time in while HB was out helping my BIL with his Mini, which is due to come out of it's winter hiberation and go for it's MOT ready for the run to Brighton in a couple of weekends time.  Tomorrow we are planning on going to Brands Hatch where our friend Bill Richards is racing.  HB's company now sponsors Bill, so fingers crossed he has a good race - his car is incredible and beats cars that on paper you would think he'd have no chance against (think BMW's/Suberu's...) .  Bill also gave our Mini a little tune up this week - I haven't driven it since, but HB report's it's really made a difference, and the new suspension has made it more responsive, but that he'd really, really like a new set of wheels and tyres (see black hole comment above!!)

Ah well, enough rambling, onto the card

I kept this card quite plain, just CS and stamping.  The inside has been decorated to match the front :-)

The sentiment stamp is from the Whimsy stamps set I got the other day, and I stamped it onto a tag I cut using the Plaintain Schoolbook cartridge on the Cricut.  The Jute is from Ladybug Crafts Ink, and the button is from my stash

I also used my Cricut to cut the star, and I got the little lost Alien from a stall at Ally Pally - no idea who they where, but I will say it was a bit of a bun fight to have a rumage through all the loose stamps, but some of them, like this little guy were different, and who could resist!!

I've coloured him with Copics, and then added some Silver accents to his spacecraft :-)  The star is mounted on 3D pads and then the spacecraft it curved and layered on 2 pads in the middle, graduating from one to none to give some extra dimension.  I made another one of these, but as a Happy Birthday card, which adds to my Men's Cards collection :-)

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

That's it from me today, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 32 - Buttons

Hi, this week's Scrapbook Sisters Challenge is to use

Buttons

I love buttons on my cards, they pop up here and there all the time!  I think they are especially good for mens cards... and OMG have you seen the latest release of digi's by the fabulously talented Gayle, I so need some of these images for the men in my family!!

Anyway, enough waffling, here's my card this week

I stitched the buttons on to the image - which was a bit fiddly but worth it :-)

I love this His Shoes image, it's perfect for so many men!  And lets face it they are so tough to make a card for!!

Looking to seeing your button creations

Birthday card for my boss

Tuesday was my bosses birthday, so I decided to make him a card, I thought I could get away with this Bugaboo image as he has a sense of humour and would take it in the spirit it was meant - I appear not to have received my P45, so think I got away with it :-D

I didn't have ages to do this card, so it's quite basic (but then, the cards I do for men usually are!) and I was using up some odds and ends of papers that were on my desk, and my mojo is still wanderlust, but I suppose that is no surprise with everything going on at the moment :-(

The papers are by MME, ribbons and buttons from my stash and Jute from LCI. I've added a big dollup of glossy accents to his glasses too :-)

I even had enough paper to do the inside!!

I'd like to enter these challenges please

I was really pleased to spot that I had won a prize over at Karen's Doodles Challenge for one of my recent easter cards - thank you so much - after a week like I've had it was a lovely surprise :-)

Before I go just a quick update on my Dad - they have done loads of tests on all sorts of equipment, he is still in good spirits but remains in intensive care for the time being, no results as yet but fingers crossed all will be OK

Thanks again for all your support, and kind wishes - it means a lot (hugs to you all) - sorry I haven't had chance to respond individually

Foxy!!

Hi, gosh sorry I've been quiet, it's been a manic week and I have come home each night shattered, and more than once with a headache - I think I might need to get my eyes tested :-(

This is just a quick post because we are off to a friends house shortly and I have got to get ready as it's their birthday (her last Thursday, him next Saturday) and so we are going round for dinner.  To HB's utter delight (spot the sarcasm!) she has organised one of those murder mystery evenings... and it's got an 80's theme, so I have been instructed to go as Kate Bush (no comments on appropriate casting...) , and HB has to go as Elton John...  ROFL!!!  I've found a pair of the kids play glasses and am busy attaching gems to it :-).  As you can imagine he is really looking forward to it :-)

Anyway, I have made two cards - I'll share them both over the next couple of days, but here is his.

I distressed the edges of the cs and paper with my scissors, and ran some distress ink round them too.  As I have so many cards to make this month (6 birthdays, plus new baby, mothers day x 2 and easter), plus the DT cards I have kept it simple, and used up some of the Creative Imaginations papers from a recent scrapbook class at Scrapbook Sisters which I thought went with the image perfectly

I wouldn't normally use this type of image but I think know he'll appriciate it :-D.  Actually she is fab to colour, although I am in awe of her waist and err, assets :-)  Having cut her out I sat her on some grograin ribbon, and added a co-ordinating button.  The sentiment is by PTI and I have stamped it onto Kraft CS and distressed it with scissors, ink and by bending it about a bit.

I'd love to enter this card into these challenges please
