Scrapbook Sisters Challenge - Wedding

Helloooooooo!

Gosh that was a little bit of an unplanned absence as I had every intention of blogging a bit more in the last week, but for one reason and another it didn't happen, nothing major, but I'll save it for another post :-D

Anyway - Wednesday again already (where is 2012 going!!) and it's time for this weeks Scrapbook Sisters Challenge, which this week is Weddings

I used one of the digis from LCI as I really like the fact that the bride and grrom look happy - so many B&G images look miserable... what's that all about!!

Anyway, as I've said before I love White on White for wedding cards (actually, not just for wedding cards!), but they are the devil to photograph!  I hope you can see all of the detail on here

I used the same basic layout as for this card, but fiddled around with it, and embossed the panels with a variety of embossing folders and stamped and heat embossed the spellbinders shape with a delicate butterflies background stamp by Kanban

I decided to cut my image out - resorting to a craft knife for the delicate bits and keeping everything crossed that I didn't slip.  Thankfully both the B& G survived with all their limbs still attached, and I'm glad I went as far as I did with the fussy cutting as I was able to give them some real definition -especially on her skirt -  by shaping them with a ball tool, I also really like the way the red pops against the white

Hope you like it!  The florishes were part of my Secret Santa pressie, so no idea what they are from!  And the lace was a pressie from Lee (thanks Lee!)

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 48 - White on White

Hello!

Can you believe we are nearly into December!  Only 4 weeks to Christmas... eek!  I've not got any shopping done, and I'm still loads of cards short!  Of course doing a Christmas fair at the weekend and selling a whole load of the ones I actually had done hasn't helped... still there's always good old M and S if time runs away with me :-D.

If you entered the Guest DT call from last weeks challenge, make sure you head on over to the challenge blog - it was a tough decision to make and I loved all of the entries!   Right enough waffle, and onto the card!!  I needed a break from making Christmas cards, so as the lovely Pam has set this weeks Ladybug Crafts Challenge and has chosen

White on White

I went for a wedding card using one of the new digi's from the Love and Marriage collection -  this one is the Bride and Groom

I went embossing mad on here using three embossing folders and a Stampendous Heart Vine background stamp with some clear embossing powder too.  Actually this last bit turned out better than I was expecting, must use that one more!!  I went for a pop of red on his tie and waistcoat and her bouquet, and I used some white satin ribbon flowers from my stash over two MS Heart Lace borders.

An organza ribbon tied with a sparkly button and some die cut butterflies embossed with holographic embossing powder along with some of my much neglected Sizzix flourishes finished this card off perfectly :-D.  There should be a linky thing at the bottom of this post with all the links to the bits and bobs!  If not I'll head on back later and fix it :-D

The sentiment is from the Baby Baby collection, as I still have no idea where my wedding sentiments have disappeared to and my printer decided to print in navy and not black, which just looked odd!!

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge 60 - Winter Wedding

Hello!!  I hope you are enjoying the week!  Just a quick post from me today, I'm sharing my DT card from this weeks Scrapbook Sisters card challenge - this week the theme is Winter Weddings

Now I got married in January, and my Mum organised the local farmers to be on standby in case it snowed to get me to the register office, honestly anyone would think she was trying to get rid of me!!  Anyway, I think that winter weddings suit a more muted or icy colour palete, so that's what I went for

I used my Bride Nikki from Ladybug Crafts Ink and mounted her simply on a lovely Marianne Die - I love this stamp, she is so classy, and how her dress flows, just gorgeous!! 

I'm desparately short of wedding sentiments though, so I didn't put one on the front!  I know I have one somewhere but I have no idea where!!  I stamped the inside with a congratulations stamp though!

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 45 - Getting Hitched, an Anniversary and a huge celebration

Hello!!

Today is a VERY special day at Ladybug Crafts Ink as it is the first blogaversary since the challenge blog was started!!

To celebrate we have a whole host of fun for you to get involved with, with lots and lots of prizes along the way, so why not grab yourself a cuppa and get involved

First up we have a new release of Digi stamps - from the Love and Marriage Collection, and the DT have used the new images for their cards.  The images are a steal at £1.75 each or £9 for all six!

  We are having a blog hop to celebrate - if you are hopping already you should have arrived from the lovely Tams if not and you want to take part pop on back to the Challenge blog, and I'll see you again in a little while!! 

  If you are hopping, I'm sure you know all the rules by heart by now, but just in case

I made two cards, so there are quite a lot of photos!

This one combines one of the new digis - The Bride and Groom with MME Lost and Found Portabello Road papers, the bottom panel has been overstamped and embossed with a Prima background stamp, MS border punch, Berrisford "Orchid" wide satin ribbon, lace, pins, WOC flowers, and some gems from my stash

I love this image, it's so sweet and I just love how I got his suit, my colouring almost looks professional!!  There's just a touch of sparkle on her flowers, tiara and necklace.  The sentiment is from the Baby Baby set which you can get here

I decorated the inside using some left over papers

Do you like it?  I have to admit I was having a bit of a panic attack over the colour scheme, but I think it works OK now!!

Now I'm going to tell you that I had a complete nightmare with my second card, you see I had one of those really brilliant ideas, that when you do it you wonder what on earth you were thinking about!  Seriously I emailed a pic of it to the boss lady and she thought it was hilarious - I'd had this brilliant idea to do something with some black feather things behind the image.  But OMG, it looked like i'd stuck this lovely image to someones wig!! Or Cat!!  Needless to say it all came apart pretty quickly (but not before Kerry had had a jolly good giggle at my expense!!  

But in so doing I ripped one of the legs of the cake stand, and as I really liked how I'd coloured this image had to get a bit choppy with the scissors  - so sorry!!  Anyway, this image is called The Cake

I actually wanted this to be a CAS card, and let the image do the talking, and I think I got there in the end... and no actual cats (or wigs) were harmed in the process!

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 46 - Silhouette

Hello!!!

This week the challenge over at Scrapbook Sisters is

Silhouette

I decided to go all old school, traditional, elegant and stylish and this digi stamp designed by the multi talented Gayle seemed absolutely perfect.

I can't decide if this is a Wedding or Anniversary card - I guess it fits either occasion!!

This was the first time I have ever coloured skin in greys - I was thinking old black and white movie here - did it work?!  She is coloured as always with copics and I added some Glamour Dust to her gloves, the bow and ruffle of her dress and her shoes

I used Theresa Collins papers and the postcard is by Echo Park - the placement of the dancers is to cover something very strange that annoyed me - on the postcard it says London circa something or other, when plainly the image is the Eiffel Tower!!  I tied a little Eiffel Tower charm on with some organza ribbon that is threaded through some lace.  The sentiment on the postcard is a Bo Bunny rub on that I have had in my stash for years - amazingly it hadn't dried out and went on just fine :-D  T roughed up the edges of the postcard and dabbed them with some Tattered Rose distress ink

Ladybug Crafts Ink (aka Totally Ladybug Tuesday) Challenge 36 - Favourite Stamp

Hello!!!

Oh my word, what a lovely response to last months challenge over at Ladybugs Crafts Ink Challenge - Summer Birthday's - I had a nightmare picking my top three, got myself all in a tizzy as every card was stunning in it's own right and I wish I could have given everyone a badge :-D

Hasn't time flown though, as it's time for another challenge, and like last month this challenge is running for all of August.  Kerry has chosen the theme of

Favourite Stamp

Now this was really difficult for me because I LOVE them all, and each for a different reason!!  Finally I settled on Bride Nikki, as she is so classy!!

I decided to do a white on white card, and then kicked myself as really struggled to get a decent picture :-(  I hope I finally managed to get a decent enough shot to let you see how gorgeous she is IRL

One thing I noticed as I was taking my pictures was that on the new Marianne Designables cut and emboss folder I used for the large panel, two of the bits that are meant to cut don't - the die bit just isn't there!!  I checked on the website and it's supposed to be, so I'm now in two minds as to what to do, send it back, or keep it!!  How very annoying!!  Mind you, if I hadn't told you there was a fault with it would you have noticed?!?!  Nope, thought not :-D  I thought I was going loopy looking at it!!

As this was WOW, I kept the rest reasonably simple, just some matting and layering, and a MS border punch and some ribbon

Less Is More... Ribbons

Hello again!!

Please click here to see my unofficial LCI post for this week - unofficial as the challenge is running all month, so the DT didn't have to make a card, not unofficial as in I've been given the boot... at least I hope I haven't!!

I decided to make a CAS card to enter into this weeks Less Is More challenge using Bride Nikki from LCI - just love her, she is such a gorgeous image of a traditional blushing bride, and needs very little colouring, just a hint of sparkle and so usable regardless of the age of the bride...  and she seemed the perfect choice for a simpler card, as she is so classy and elegant you don't really need loads of embellishments

Anyway this is a spot on challenge for me as Ribbon is my go to embellishment - I seem completely unable to be able to make a card without including at least one piece - the fact that I have put over thirty metres in my blog candy and that hasn't even made a dent in my collection is a bit worrying!!

I did worry that you couldn't write on the embossed bit so I added a panel to the back - stamped up from a Clear Choice stamp set I found for the bargain price of 65p!!

I double stamped the hearts so they are intwined without re-inking inbetween

I really like it!!

Is this less is more??

Evening...

After last weeks disaster where I entered the less is more challenge, only to find out my monochrome card wasn't monochrome enough, I decided to give the whole less is more thing one last shot.  I really like the style, but maybe it isn't "me" and I should give up :-/

Anyway, this week the theme is Frames, so I have stamped the freebie from the current Craft Stamper Magazine onto white Bazzill and made a frame by embossing a nestie onto the CS, a Congratulations sentiment from the Baby Baby set by Ladybug Crafts Ink (I notice this excellent value Baby stamp set is back in stock!!), and some gorgeous pewter ribbon and there you go.  Oh I did add a touch of Black Diamond Stickles to the droplets of the chandelier, and I really hope this doesn't mean that I don't count again!  The way I feel today, that might just tip me over the edge!!

I've done this as a wedding kinda of a card, and love it, so classy!!

Gosh reading back I sound really down!!  Actually I was hoping that I would have had a letter today from the school board over the appeal to get the kids in the same school, but NOTHING!!!  And I'm not allowed to ring them to find out, just got to wait for this stupid letter to find out what they have decided, and the impact this will have on our family.  Seriously, it'll be nearly a week, the letter is only coming from 20 miles away... someone could have hand delivered it quicker!!

We've gone through everything again and if we have been unsuccessful in the appeal then the only choice will be for me to give up work, which is insane for me to have spent tens of thousands on childcare in their preschool years only to be forced to give up work when the youngest starts school because some idiot thought that I can bend the laws of space and time and get them to two different schools at the same time.

LOL, can you tell I am soooooooooo frustrated waiting for this letter, so we know where we are!!  Then I can get on and deal with it, being in limbo is driving me crazy!!

Monday evening quick post

Good evening, hope for those in the UK that you have been enjoing the bank holiday today, although back to work tomorrow (boo!!),  I really could get used to these four day weekends after two in a row :-)

We went over my SIL's today for a BBQ, which was lovely, but I had time to make a quick acceptance card for a wedding that we have been invited to.

I decided to keep it simple, and follow a similar style to others that I have done in the past.  I just love a design that works for anything and the basic elements of this card have been twisted for wedding, anniversary, birthdays and Christmas.

On this one I punched the border with a MS heart punch and used some wired ribbon in a dull gold to compliment the Bling CS I used behind the punched area.

I found a font here that I used (it's called Pea Nicki)as I don't have an acceptance stamp, and used the same font for the inside.  I punched the same border punch along the gold CS and matted the printed text onto it.  The text is printed in a brown shade as I thought black would be too harsh!!

Fingers crossed they like it :-)

WOW - Michele's challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink

Good morning!  Thank you to everyone who was able to join in with my challenge last week - there were some absolutely stunning cards and I agonised over my top three for ages, I wish it could have been a top 5, or 10 at least!!

This week's challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink aka Totally Ladybug Tuesday has been set by Michele and she would like to see

White On White

Now I love all white cards, they are just so visually effective, but I usually have a bit of colour in there somewhere, even if only on a gem or suchlike, but I after my boo-boo the other week (I lost the ability to count, which was a shame cos I was making a recipe challenge card at the time!!) I was determined to follow the rules to the absolute letter :-).

My only problem was taking the photos!!  Silly old me used pearlescant Bazzill CS, forgetting that I have to take my pictures after the sun has gone down, so have to use a flash and have you any idea how difficult I found it to take a decent picure of all this gleaming CS!!  I persevered but the pictures do this card no justice to what it looks like IRL :-(

Right, enough with the waffle, onto the card :-)

I wanted the back section of the card to be laced up, like a bridal gown - I think I nearly got the lacing right!!  The ribbon has been threaded through holes punched with a border punch and the small holes in between have been filled with another gem.  There are two further layers of punched CS to resemble lace around the lacing :-)  I even remembered to cut the cs on the 'bias'!!

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 14 - Love Is In The Air

Good Morning!

This week it is the lovely Hayley's turn to set the challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink and she has set us the challenge of

Love is in the Air

I decided to go for a Wedding Card, and am keeping everything crossed that Hayley thinks this is OK for her theme :-)

Plus I was itching for an excuse to use these gorgeous papers from the Be Mine Collection by Echo Park, and I haven't stamped Bride Nikki up in a little while :-)

I've coloured Nikki with copics and glittered her up with glamour dust then cut her out and layered her up on a die cut by Marianne Creatables.  I've used pink Bazzill Tulle under the die cut which is attached to a strip of Grey and Pink Bazzill and punched the pink with a MS border punch, and tied the tulle around a heart charm from my stash.  The edges of the papers have been distressed with Tea Rose Distress Ink.

I used my Sizzix flower die to cut the flowers, rolled them up then secured with a dab of Silicon and set a brad in the centre then rolled the edges of the outer leaves back. and set these round a sentiment made up of Paula Pascal and Papermania  that has been cut out with my friends circle nesties and edged in Weathered Wood Distress ink.

As I had a bit of paper left over (of the too big to throw away, too small to keep variety!!) I decided to decorate the inside too!!

I used the same border punch as on the front and cut a label using my nesties and inked the edges.

More teal cards

Evening!!  Just a quick post with a couple more teal cards

I noticed I didn't have many wedding cards in my box so thought I'd do a couple in white and teal for next weekends event - if you want to get involved, and have the chance of winning some rather fabby blog candy, there are still a few days left, click here to see what is going on and why!

Here's my teal wedding card, similar to ones I've done before, but at this stage on the teal card drive my brain is beginning to hurt and I'm going with if it ain't broke, don't fix it :-)

There's a distinct lack of male themed cards in my stack, so in the last 30 minutes of yesterdays crop this is what I came up with

As it's for an older boy I think this is OK, lets face it do teenage boys really look at cards, and certainly OK for a half hour quick make

Here come's the bride!

Hi!  I'm back off to work this morning and I'm not looking forward to it, I've really enjoyed my time off with my eldest son and have managed to fit quite a bit of crafting in too :-)

It's HB's birthday today, I made him a card last week but I can't share it yet as he leaves for work before the kids and I get up, and I don't want him sneeking a peek at today's post and seeing the pics before he's seen the card :-) so today I am sharing another of the cards I made at the last weeks shop crop at Scrapbook Sisters.

This card is for my friend Karen to give her friend on her wedding day.  Their colour scheme is red, so I have based the card around that. 

Once again I liberated the "Love" ticket from Karen's pile and chalked it up with a few chalk eyes (thanks Bev W), then added red organza ribbon and cream lace (thanks Bev B).  I love this sharing thing that goes on at the Scrapbook Sisters' crops - even at the big ones you'll find people wandering about asking if anyone has a "...", it normally results in much rumaging in bags and usually someone, somewhere, has exactly what is needed!  If you live in Kent and you haven't been to one before, the next one is on 18th September - you can book your ticket here - why not come along and have a crafty day!

I have used Bride Nikki again, stamped on Neenah with Tuxedo Black Momento, coloured with Copics and glittered with Glamour Dust (thanks Barbra!) As usual I have taylored her hair colour to match the bride - it's such a small thing to do, but I guess that is what makes a handmade card special over one bought in a shop as you have so much ability to alter elements to suit that of the recipient. 

I luuuurve this stamp, Nikki is so elegant and classy.  I like lots of bridal stamps but this is the only one I actually own so many of them were too cutesy cutesy even for me!

One sketch, three cards... and a mini update

All the same basic design though!

It's been a busy day here! 

HB has been working on the mini most of the day, I went to the farmers market (more on that in a bit), my Dad finished the engine so that has been collected and I've made 6 cards in between being driven insane by my youngest who was clearly missing his brother who is on his second day at Cub Scout camp.

Where to start?

Hmmm... Farmers market??  Well I went along and it was pretty busy and they had no tables left but I had a good look round and got a good feel for it.  I spoke to the lady that organises and she had a look at my work and has said she will call me about having a table at the next one in four weeks time.  There has been someone selling cards there before, but they weren't there today and she didn't know if they wanted a table next time or not - if she does then I won't be able to do it :-( - although aparently she does Pheonix cards and also sells handmade ones made by someone else.  I'm keeping everything crossed :-).  While I was there I bought some lovely cakes, carrots, pies, and some scrummy cheese so it wasn't a wasted journey in the slightest :-)

So a bit inspired I came home and got cracking.  First up, some more wedding cards

I know they are really similar to the ones I did the other day, but I really like the white on white look.  One one of them I used plain crystals, but on the other two I used the same colour as I've coloued her flowers in with.

The red flowers really work with this image - should have used red gems on this one, just to see what it looked like :-)

During all this HB was out in the garage tinkering with the mini he has been working on, getting all frustrated with it, cos it's nearly there - with the exception of the engine...

...my dad used to race motorbikes before I was born and was actually pretty good - but back in those days they used to build all their own bikes and engines, partly because of money and partly because if something went wrong they could only blame themselves :-)... a different world to how top motorsport is now!  Anyway, the engine needed a rebuild and he was roped into doing it, plus he knew what he was doing with an engine more than we did and the the budget just didn't allow for a professional rebuild - plus he is much more fussy than all but the very best engine builders and was free!! 

Now at this stage I'm going to tell you that he was 80 a few weeks back, but he has really enjoyed doing it - and he is pretty happy with how it's gone back together - the last few bits went in today, and HB and my BIL went and collected it (if we'd have let him he'd have lifted it into the car himself and brought it up here, but as I said he's 80 and although it's only for a mini it's really rather heavy!).

I managed to find a pic of it as it was lurking in the corner of the garage right at the start of the rebuild...

So they've painted the outside a lovely bright red, and everything inside of it has been taken out, re-engineered and put back togther.  I know you can't see much of a difference in these pictures apart from the colour, but I am so proud of my dad for doing it!  How many 80 year olds would even try to do something like this - I guess the final proof will be when we turn the key for the first time!! :-) 

Tomorrow it's going into the car!! Wish 'em luck (and that they emerge from the garage with the same number of digits they went in with, LOL!!)
