Word Card

Just a quick post from me cos I've just finished making cards and I still need to pack my stuff for the shop crop at Scrapbook Sisters tomorrow night - hoping it is the antidote to a busy week that I need - work has been busy this week and to top it off Sam has chicken pox again!!  According to the nurse they now believe that if you don't get it badly (he didn't) then you can get it again, and they also think that there are several strains now... just marvellous!!

It's James' birthday on Tuesday so we were going to have a little get together this weekend for him, and thought we might have to cancel, but all the kids have had it and the spots have started to scab over so all my friends have said they are coming (hurrah!!)

This was meant to be a quick post, and there's me waffling away :-)

So Wednesday two of my colleagues asked me to make a card for them - and both were needed for Friday... no problem I thought, one Wednesday and one Thursday.  Nope... or actually, yes.  This is the second go at this card, cos I just didn't like the first attempt, so ended up making two cards on Thursday night!!  I'd used different papers for the first incarnation of this card and they just didn't look right, I don't know why cos I love the papers, they just looked all wrong on this card :-(  I'm still not 100% happy but I'm sure it will be fine!!  I think the lack of an image has thrown me somewhat!!

The original inspiration for this card comes from the lovely Gayle, if you have never seen Gayles work, why not stop by her blog and have a sneeky peek, her work is amazing!!  What I love about this idea is that you can use it for anyone - any age, any occasion, and EVEN men!!

The person that wanted this one had something similar a while back, and wanted the same again but for her niece who is not a girly girl at all!  For some unknown reason last time I had cut all the letters but this time I got cracking with the cricut and used that to make the base card and to cut the individual letters, so it was fairly simple to assemble.  I used the spare letters to cover the backs of the letters inside the card, which meant that the backs of the brads were covered.

Oooh!!  The brads!! I wanted them to be a bit blingy, but didn't have any in the right colour in my stash, so dunked them in some versamark ink then into clear holographic embossing powder and heated with the heat gun - I then dunked them again while the powder was still molten and heated again, and ta da!!  Glittery brads!  But I do recommend you try this for yourself, hold the pin bit of the brad with tweezers or pliers and don't try and touch them for a minute or two... not that singed my fingers by trying to pick them up while they were still hot at all... oh no :-D

I used my PTI ticket sentiment set, given to me by the lovely Kerry and overstamped it with some LCI numbers from the Sentimental Numbers set, and coloured them in with copics then distressed the whole thing :-)

It doesn't look it but it took me a lot longer to put together than I had anticipated, more so cos I had a second card to make, but I'll save that for another post :-)

I'd like to enter this card for these challenges

That's it from me for now, thanks for stopping by :-)
