Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 42 - Hey Baby!!

Hello!!

This week at Ladybug Crafts Ink the challenge has been sent by Tams and she would like to see your Baby inspired cards!

I used one of the oh-so-cute images from the Baby Baby set - if you haven't seen this set before, check it out here, as for £8.99 you get 4 images and 7 sentiments, so they are the bestest value EVER!!  (and, shhh, I use the sentiments for non-baby stuff too, just don't tell anyone, it's our secret... OK?!?!)

Dunno why, but I'm sooooooo into neutrals right now, so I used some odds and ends of Bo Bunny Chiffon double dot and journal papers (don't fret, I have more on it's way!!), kraft and Chocolate CS.  I also LOVE this East of India Ribbon, and the gingham ribbon, and the dotty button, and I ADORE the little wooden tag that is hanging off a Tim Holtz hitch fastener!!  Monty Mushroom felt is in the middle of the Prima flower, with a taupe brad in the centre.... can you tell, just a little bit that I really, really like this card :-D

Little cutie here has been coloured with copics, and there is a touch of Glamour Dust on the blankie... did you spot the tootsies peeking out the bottom??  All together now... awwwww....  Actually it was a really touch choice which of the four images to use, as they are all so sweet!

OK, that's it from me today, hope you are having a great week, and I'm looking forward to seeing all of your baby cards!

Please may I enter these challenges

Reflecting

Hello!  I hope you are having a good weekend!

We had a great day yesterday, although we were both quite tired as we got home at 1.30 and were up again at 6.30, as we were helping our friends who were racing yesterday.  All went well, and we had a good day, getting home at about 7, so not too bad!

Today we have had a PJ day, both of us have been chilling, HB has been watching films on the telly, and I have been doing a spot of crafting :-D, we have decided to pop out for dinner and are heading to La Tasca for some yummy tapas shortly :-D

Before we go out just time to share another completed page with you - getting a bit of a habit this isn't it!

This is another of the pictures that were taken at SIL's wedding, love pictures like this that show a reflection, so clever, although when I take them you can usually see me lurking in the background :-D  Fortunately, this was taken by the photographer so no such error!!

Hope you like it, more tomorrow (I hope!)

Beautiful Bouquet

A real quick post from me this morning as we are leaving in about 5 minutes to go out for the day,  I do NOT do early starts, especially as we didn't get home until 1.30 this morning

Yawns at the ready then!!

Today I'm sharing another completed Scrapbook page... and there is more to share too, of my bouquet from my SIL's wedding as I was her serf bridesmaid, and it was too lovely a picture not to do something with.

Again it is quite simple, with the focus totally on the picture, and the papers acting as accents.  This is another one that originated from one of the class kits at Scrapbook Sisters, and I am slowly working my way through getting a few finished off!

Right, gotta dash!

Have a great weekend

Witchy Boo...

Hello!!!!

It's a boo on the card front today, with another Halloween card

I really admire images when they have been completely coloured monochrome, but I didn't think the face of this little cutie would look right, but eased up on the cheek colour a bit, and stuck the greyscale to her clothes.

Without more waffle from me, here's today's card

I've used some more of the gorgeous MME papers, some ribbon and fibres, gems and my lovely Paper Shelter image... sorry for using her so much at the moment!

The fence is cut with a Tim Holtz die, and by pure luck I placed it so that the cat on the paper was sitting ontop of the fence, :-D, LOL don't you just love it when something happens that you weren't intending but just adds to the design!

Anyway, I've got a busy day ahead of me as we are taking the kids to Dorset, which will be about a 4 hour drive minimum after work, where they will be spending their half term holiday, we'll have dinner and then head home as we are going racing again on Saturday, Sunday will be a PJ day I feel!!
Thanks for stopping by

P.S.  Thanks to the lovely Lisa for my new signature!!

Are you sitting down?

Hello!!

How are you?  OK I hope!!  Thank goodness it is nearly the end of the week, it's been interesting on the work front this week, and I'm waiting to see what happens next :-D  Tonight big son is off to cubs and then tomorrow we are taking them both down to Lyme Regis, on the Dorset/Devon border where my in-laws (MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL and neice!) have rented a house for two weeks.  They went last Friday, so are into their second week, and as it is half term my two are going to join them.  I will miss them immensely, but HB and I are looking forward to some "us" time.  Actually I'm looking forward to being able to get some crafting done without having to referee the antics of two small boys, but shhhh, don't tell HB!!  Hopefully the weather holds out as they have been saying it might snow soon... yuck, snow, horrid cold nasty stuff!!

Anyway, enough of my blah blah blah, and onto todays card... except, nope it's not a card!!  I KNOW!!! I actually finished a layout!!  In fact I finished about 6 of them, and am still going.  Nope not sure what happened there either, as I am truely shocking for finishing layouts, so I'll be sharing them on and off for a little while :-D  Most of them have been started in class, and have been waiting for me to find the right picture to go on them, and a few bits and bobs have been appropriated out of the bags for card making... naughty!!

First up, a page on James, from photos I took on his ninth birthday earlier in the year

Aren't I good I even put journalling on this one!!  I know the current trend is to really embellish scrapbook pages with all sorts of stuff, but I like it when the photos are this lovely and remain the main focus.  Which is odd, because I don't do CAS cards very often!!

That's it from me today, more tomorrow

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 57 - Circles

Hello!!

I'm a bit later than I would have liked with today's post, so I'll get cracking

Circles

You can interpret this challenge in so many ways - maybe a circle shaped card, or just have some circles on your card.

Regular readers of my blog will know that my 4 year old decided to stick my Cricut cutting mat to the carpet, so now not only is it not stickly anymore, it's covered in carpet strands, so all of the circles on my card are either cut with a compass cutter or with a nestie, but I got there in the end :-D

I decided to keep it fairly simple, and used a Lili of the Valley Images along with some Echo Park papers

I used some of my Diamond Dust at the bottom, but note to self, do this after die cutting!!  I seriously feared for my nesties as it cracked and crunched it's way through the Diamond Dust, which is actually glass, but it seems OK :-D

I think that Christmas cards really lend themselves to simplier designs!

Please may I enter these challenges

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 41 - Going Round and Round...

Hello!!!

This weeks LCI challenge has been set by Michele, aka Mary Poppins and she has challenged us to use pink and chocolate and a circle somewhere... sheesh, talk about being specific :-D  Only joking Michele, love you really!!

I did have a complete nightmare making my card though, as I thought easy, I'll use the cricut to cut some circles out... ah, no... my 4 year old has in the last week (unseen by me) decided that my cutting mat is brilliant for sticking to the carpet, because, he tells me, it makes a great noise when you pull it off again.  Little monster!  As you can imagine it wasn't going to grip anything ever again!!  Ah well, lesson learnt by me - it shall in future be placed well out of reach of little fingers!!  All I'm going to say is thank goodness I managed to find my compass cutter, and I still have all my fingers!  What a result!!

Somehow though I managed to make two cards, one a bit busy, and one more simple  OK first up, the busy one with Snow Covered Log Ruby, Bo Bunny and MME papers, and Pink Satin Pleated Ribbon

And then I made another one, this time using this months stamp of the month Nikki Running with Buttercup, available until the end of the month half price!!  More of the MME papers and Oak Brown Felt

Both cards are so different, one's fussy, one's more CAS but both add to my pile of Christmas cards, so I'm happy!

Please can I enter these challenges

First card  - Snow Covered Log Ruby
Sparkles Christmas Challenge - Christmas Songs (I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas)
Crafty Ann's  - Christmas Songs (I'm Dreaming Of a White Christmas)
Jingle Belles - Holiday Songs (I'm Dreaming Of a White Christmas)
Winter Wonderland - Robin Red Breast (hoping the three with the presents count!)

Second card - Nikki Running With Buttercup

Thanks for stopping by, looking forward to seeing your creations

Halloween.. part two...

Hello!!

I couldn't help myself, and jsut had to do another card with the Paper Shelter image I got the other day, so thought I'd share it today.. sorry, this one is similar to yesterdays!  As the house was fairly tidy I only had a few chores to do, kids school clothes to iron, cooking etc, so plenty (!!) of time to get some crafting done

LOL I can see her being used LOTS!!

I used the last of my oversized Bazzill blooms, and teamed it with an orange Prima flower and a black felt brad.

This time I coloured her hair green, and added a few dots of sparkle to her dress... stunning in her own way!!

Anyway, I'd love to enter these challenges please

Right, gotta dash, gotta get the kids to school (on time today, hopefully!!) and then to onto work... honestly, I'd FAR rather not, but it's what feeds my crafting addiction, so needs must :-D

Have a great week

Anyone seen my broom???

Hello!!

How are you!  I hope you are having a great weekend!

It's a late post from me (it's nearly 2am as I'm typing this!!) but I can't sleep as I have spent most of the afternoon and evening in bed with a monster migrane and now I can't settle, so have given up and come to type up the post that I meant to do yesterday but the migraine got it the way!  It also would have meant removing my eldest son from the computer, which is like trying to get a limpet off of a rock, so I left HB in charge of the kids, and took myself off to a darkened room to try to shake the worst of it off...  as I said I succeeded, but now am not sleepy!!

Ah well, every cloud has a silver lining, so it means I'm able to share this little cutie a bit earlier than I otherwise would have done!

We don't really celebrate Halloween here, but it's a darn good excuse to make a few cards!  I also got busy distressing all of the papers and CS, nothing like a bit of distressing to relieve tension :-D.  There is so much inspiration from so many challenge blogs who are doing the whole Halloween/Autumn/Fall thing at the moment too, that it would be rude not too join in!  Special mention must be made to Pals Paper Arts who have the most amazing picture of a decorated doorway and porch!!

The papers are a right assortment, there's Bo Bunny, Making Memories and Rusty Pickle in there.  The Prima flower has a sparkly brad in the centre.

I saw this image over at The Paper Shelter  and just love her!!  Love all the stuff lost in her slightly askew Marie Antoinette (sp??) style hair :-D.  The broom especially makes me laugh, years ago I used to work with someone who used to pull her hair up and then shoved pens in it when she needed her hands free, and by the end of the day there was about 5 pens buried in there!!

As ever she's coloured with copics, and I have added Glossy accents to the spider, her batty necklace and the potion pot in her hair.

Right I suppose I'd better go and try to sleep otherwise I'm going to be grumpy tomorrow!

Before I do, please can I enter these challenges
The Paper Shelter - Animals (hope the cat in her hair counts)
Simon Says Stamp - Halloween/Goth
Cupcake Craft Challenge - Halloween

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow... or later today!!

Pink Mary Poppins

Hello!  Thank goodness it is Friday, as it seems to have been a VERY long week!!

Still I've had quite a productive week, well craft wise I have, work is another matter entirely :-D

I decided to make another card for the several challenges that are about at the moment for Breast Cancer Awareness and as this is another one I am sending to the card drive being supported at Touched By a Butterfly to be given to newly diagnosed patients I thought it would be a good idea to use Elaine by Kraftin Kimmie as it's got Big Ben in the background, and I wanted to let the recipient know that people all around the world are wishing them well... see I'm a BIG softy at heart :-D

I'm a bit worried that this paper is a bit busy, but I had it in my head to use it!!  I've combined it with some lovely ribbon from LCI, Whimsy Ticket and sentiment.  One of the panels has been heat embossed with a Crafty Individuals background stamp, and the other has been run through a cuttlebug script embossing folder.

I added glitter to the band on her hat, and glossy accents to the clock faces and her bag.

As I said this is one of those that now it is finished it's not exactly what I had in my head!  Not sure quite what I had in my head though!!

Please can I enter this into these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow

Exciting news!!!!

Hello!  Hope you are having a great week!!

So my excellent news is that I am now a very proud member of the Southern Girls DT... WHOO HOO!!!  I am so excited to be joining such a great team, and getting to know all the other DT members :-D
Can you tell I'm pleased?!  Actually you should have seen me when I got the email, it was a good five minutes of doing the happy clappy dance round the house.  On second thoughts I'm quite glad no-one was pointing a camera at me, I must have looked like a right idiot!!  LOL :-D

Anyway, I promised I'd be blogging a bit more now that the kids are back at school and I'm determined to keep to my resolution, so todays card is a fairly simple Thank You card, as I find it's always handy to have a few on hand to send out, and my stocks were running a bit low.

I figured out how to change the colour of the digi sentiment to better match my colour scheme.  Not a big thing I know, but I am a bit technically challenged, and I was absurdly proud of myself!!

You can just see in the picture that I have embossed the centre panel.  Isn't that odd, I haven't used my heat gun in ages, but it's been used a few times this week already!

Supplies: White card blank - Craftwork Cards; Bazzill "Brocade" CS; Basic Grey "Blush -  Admire" DP;
Images: Bild Malarna stamp coloured with Copics, Whimsy Digi Sentiment
Tools/other :Martha Stewart border punch; Corner rounder; Versamark; Clear embossing powder; Heat Gun; Lace; Ribbon

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 56 - Anything Goes

Hello!

This weeks Scrapbook Sisters Challenge is a nice and easy one as it is

I decided to use one of the rather stunning dancer digi's by Scrapbook Sisters - seemed appropriate now that Strictly Come Dancing (UK version of Dancing with the Stars) is back on our screens!

You can't see that well, but I overstamped the panel with a Kaisercraft rose stamp and embossed it.  The gates behind the dancers are from the same set.  I don't know about you but I am always really nervous about stamping directly onto paper, especially when I like it as much as I do with this MME Portobello Road "Party" Looking Glass Paper.  I distressed the edges of the papers and the black CS, added a gem swirl I won in a recent challenge, more gems, a bow and a Woodware sentiment and ta-da all done :-D

I added glamour dust to sections of her outfit, just for a bit more bling!!

Hope you can join in with the challenge this week :-D

Thanks for stopping by,

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 40 - Tag, you're it!!

Hello!!

Before I get onto today's post a quick apology!! It appears I managed to break my blog and it was only showing posts from several weeks ago!!  I tried blogger help, which wasn't that helpful :-/, but found a post from someone saying it has been happening when you copy and paste a picture, rather than uploading it properly!  Humf, that's me told then... so I had to go back and find the rogue picture and get rid of it, and after 3 days I seem to have cracked it... fingers crossed!!

Soooo.......... this weeks LCI challenge is Pinky's challenge, and she has chosen to ask us to

You can either make a tag or incorporate a tag into your card, you know us Ladybugs, we aren't that picky!!

I decided to use my Marianne Die to make a tag onto which I have used Posh Shopper Nikki, and I used more of my lovely Paris and Co MME pad.  I might have to treat myself to another one as it is getting used up at an alarming rate!!

Isn't she gorgeous :-D  I had to give her a glittery bag though, just seemed the right thing to do :-D

The sentiment that is just peaking round the corner, which I printed on the computer as this card is destined for a friend who seems to do nothing but shop :-D

I also put to good use some of the luscious felt that you can also get from the LCI store - I used Monty Mushroom (!!) to make the panel on the left hand side, which has some sheer ruffle ribbon tied round it.

Monty makes a second appearance with Oak Brown felt and some brown polka dot bias binding which have all been cut with a Marianne flower die

Cute huh?!

Hope you have time to play along with the challenge this week, and don't forget this month's stamp of the month, Nikki Running with Buttercup half price... now if that doesn't tempt you I don't know what will!!

A card for Breast Cancer Awareness

Hello!!

While having a little peak at Feline Playful yesterday I spotted a link to a first annual Link Up for Pink
challenge that I thought I would like to make a card for.  It's for a Breast Cancer charity that gives little care packages to newly diagnosed patients, that will now include cards to let these brave people know that complete strangers are wishing them a speedy recovery from all over the world.  Also so many of my favourite challenge sites are hosting challenges in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness this week - why not create a card

I think we all know someone who has been affected by this awful disease, mainly female, but men too (both as suffers and partners of sufferers). I also know how supportive all my blogging friends new and old were when I did a card drive for Ovarian Cancer last year, so maybe it was time to make a card or two for this cause.

Nothing too fancy, just a little something to send to the charity, in the hope it makes someone smile

Now I don't know if it is the done thing to have an image who is so blatantly feminine and well, she's kinda got it all out there on this sort of card, but I thought, why not.  I'm hoping whoever the recipient is will take the card in the spirit in which it was created and sent... oh gosh I'm worried now!! She's called Samantha by Kraftin Kimmie and I want her waistline!! LOL :-D

I couldn't resist a spot or two of glitter on her compact, lippy and shoes :-D.
I couldn't find a sentiment in my stash that I wanted so I created my own on the PC and printed it out onto CS

Again, I'm worried about this now!!  I hope it doesn't sound glib and frivolous when the recipient will be going through such a traumatic time :-/  Me and my bright ideas huh, I thought it was fine when I was doing it, only now am I worried!!
Despite my concerns over whether or not this card is appropriate, please can I enter these challenges

Thanks so much for stopping by, it's really appriciated :-D

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 55 - Christmas Flowers

Hello!!

I don't mind admitted I faced making this weeks card for the Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge with more than a little trepidation as it's Christmas flowers this week... eek!!  I LOVE Christmas images, but Christmas flowers don't normally do it for me, mainly because they are normally poinsettia's and I'm really not that keen on them!  Personal taste I know, but any foliage that I have decorating the house has cinnamon and spiced orange tucked here and there.  Maybe it's because my Mum always gives us a plant and I struggle to keep it alive into the new year... actually that's not just poinsettias, I have that habit regardless of the plant or time of year!!

Anyway, I was struggling to come up with something but found a digi that was of a rose based Christmas design, much better :-D

I used some MME papers that came free with a magazine last month and a sketch, gotta love sketches to give you a kick up the bottom when you are having a blank mind moment!!  I made my own flower too out of a corner of paper and some Marianne Swirls

I coloured the image with copics, popped glossy accents on the leaves, a touch or red stickles on the berries,
then cut coloured the flowers again, cut out and 3D'd them onto the main image, with some black stickles in the middle.  Now I come to think of it, do they look more like poppies... Ooh heck what colour are the middle of a red Christmas rose??  Oh well...  I'll call it artistic licence!!

Here's a shot from the side, which hopefully will explain what I meant there!!

Please may I enter these challenges

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 39 - No Designer Paper

Hello!!  I'm so sorry I'm late posting, I'd done a scheduled post and it didn't go.... grrrr!!!

Anyway, better late than never :-D
This week's LCI challenge has been set my my lovely friend Julie and she would like to see
No Papers
LOL, when I saw her on Saturday I think she was slightly regretting her decision but I think all the DT have made some gorgeous cards, even if it took some of us well outside our comfort zone!  In addition all the DT have used the same image... I LOVE it when we do this, as it really shows how each of us interpret the stamps in different ways, colours and techniques!
I decided to use my Marianne Embossing folder/die again as it seems to work so well for Christmas cards, and was delighted to find Nikki Running with Buttercup fitted the space perfectly!!

Great image huh?

She's so fun to colour and I really went to town with the glitter... AND... Nikki Running with Buttercup is this months LCI Stamp of the month, which means you can get your very own here ...and as she's the stamp of the month then she is half price... and lets face it £3.25 doesn't even buy you a coffee and a slice of cake these days so it's the bargain of the, well... month!!

I also used some of the gorgeous green twill ribbon and white felt also available from LCI.

Hopefully I have got myself on track and I'll be blogging a bit more frequently this week!  I just think I lost my way for a bit, but hopefully all will settle down soon :-D

In the meantime please may I enter these challenges

Thanks for stopping by
