Ladybug Crafts Ink - New Release, Blog Hop and Add A Number

Hello!!!

This fortnight's challenge at LCI  is yet another special one as we are celebrating another new release... I know how does Kerry do it... four weeks ago we had the released of the uber trendy Killer Heels digi's collection, two weeks ago there were the oh-so-usable Love and Billy Bear images, and this week sees the launch of the Through the Ages images!!

Hopefully you are blog hopping with us already and should have come from the super talented Rose, who is joining us this fortnight as a GD :-D, if not why not head back to the start here as there are prizes to be won!!

The name first out of the hat after the closing date can chose any 6 images from the 20 (yes you read that right...20!!!) images from the new release and a further 5 runners up, can pick any three!!  If you can't wait that long, head over to the store where you can buy the images for £1.75 each

As there are often special birthdays and anniversary's that us cardmakers find ourselves needing a suitable image for, this new range totally fulfils all possible options (although if I'm honest if a couple reach their 70th wedding anniversary that is quite something, so maybe this image is more usable for birthdays!!)

Taking the age of the potential recpient into account I went for a more subtle colour scheme and papers than I would for someone younger - not that I'm saying that older people aren't trendy... my mum is 77 and still challenges me for who has the more trendy (and high!!) shoes... I win only on the basis that she's now of the age of the comfy shoe most of the time, killer heels for special occasions only, where as I go for fabulous all the time... and my feet know it!!  Anyway, I digress!!

I coloured my image with copics and added glossy accents to the champagne glass, and glamour dust to the bubbles, centre of the rose and to the bunting.  I used one of my old sketches (WHY can I not find a copy on my computer!!!), some MME papers from my stash and stitched all the panels using gold thread, and added some cream lace and some satin ribbon and pins to finish my card of.  Love how these papers work so well with Kraft c/s!

Hope you like it!  Your next stop on the blog hop is the uber-talented Susan

New release news!

Just a really quick post before I leave the house to go to a black-tie-do later... I *think* I've got everything!!  Still not 100% but slowly getting there, the antibiotics are beginning to have an effect, but not sure they have got this chest infection licked just yet :-(  I'll finish the course and go back to the docs if need be

Anyway... today's news is that on Tuesday LCI have another fabulous release, and this one's a corker - really different images that I think are going to be so usable!

Hoping you'll join us from this Tuesday, as always when LCI do a new release there are lots of prizes up for grabs - whoo hoo!!

Have a great weekend

Southern Girls - Banners and Pendants

Hello!

How are you?  Illness continues here, I've had flu that has turned into a bad chest infection.  After doing battle with the doctors receptionist (who told me that it was highly unlikely that I had a secondary condition, and that I couldn't have an appointment... hmmm!!!) I finally got to see a doctor yesterday who has signed me off work, and given me some heavy duty antibiotics.  Fingers crossed that they do the job as everything hurts from coughing for over a week, my nose is sore as I keep sneezing until I get nosebleeds, and I have no appetite and can't breathe properly.  As you might tell I don't do being ill!!!  And to make matters worse, we are supposed to be going to a black-tie do on Saturday, and I'm gutted as it's rare that we get posh-grown-up-all-dressed-up-time together and I'm poorly and don't know at the moment if I'm going to be well enough to go at all :-(

Right whinges over!!  Onto today's card which is for this fortnights Southern Girls Challenge which is Banners and Pendants

I've used Beach Huts from Delicious Doodles, colouring with Copics in a soft colour scheme.  I decided to keep the design of my card parred down and simple to suit this calming image,  I used some MME papers that seemed appropriate for the image and made a banner using some offcuts.  Oooh, and I got to play with a new Memory Box die that I got last month - like this one, think it'll be great for mens/boys cards!

Crafty Boots Challenge - Out of your comfort zone (I am a more-is-more kinda girl and it takes a LOT for me not to add a ton of stuff to a card!!)

Thats it from me today, hope to see you soon

In the Pink @ Ladybug Crafts Ink

Hello!!

Can you believe it's the second week of February already!  Where is the time going :-D

We're a poorly household at the moment - my small son has the flu and is feeling very sorry for himself.  Actually, I feel quite sorry for him too, he laid on the sofa all day yesterday, and was so unbelievably hot!  For a usually independent 5-year old he was wanting his mummy more than usual (that bit was quite cute really!), his legs didn't belong to him and he didn't want anything to eat, so I was passing him his drink with a straw, wiping his face with a damp flannel, and carrying him to the loo as the stairs wiped him out :-(.  Daddy is looking after him today - what's the betting I go home and the pair of them are still where I left them this morning??

I've done something nasty to a tendon in my big toe, OMG - ouch!!!  Maybe it's because I'm dosed up on painkillers that made me so calm yesterday!  All I did was bend down to put some washing in the machine and it kinda pinged :-(  It better sort itself out soon as we've got a black tie do at the end of the month, and I'm NOT wearing flats when I've got a gorgeous pair of heels bought specially (actually, two gorgeous pairs of heels, I couldn't decide which I preferred!!)

Anyway, enough of me moaning, onto today's card, which is for this weeks LCI Challenge as chosen by the lovely Laurie who wants to see your Pink plus One creations!

Now this challenge has been met with some headaches for the team, some of whom are complete pinkaphobes!  I'm not overly keen on pink as a dominant colour, but think it looks pretty good with white and these Teresa Collins papers are detailed enough to keep a bit of interest.

I've had these shaped cards in my stash for ages, and I've never been that happy with anything I've made with them, but I saw an easel card at a craft show a while back that used shaped cards, and decided to "lift" the idea.  I wish knew who to credit for the original idea, or even what stand it was on, I'm so sorry if it was you!  A bit of organza ribbon acts as a stopper for the easel, and I've added a metal embelishment with a pink epoxy dot in the middle.

I've used Tic-Tac Love and this image is available from Ladybug Crafts Ink - isn't it cool!  I've used it here for HB's valentines card, but I think it's great for anniversary's, engagement's or any other romantic occasion.  I decided to fussy cut it, and 3D the "missing" pieces onto the edges of the main image - in reality they are further away - my friend Lisa has used the same image but she wasn't naughty with the scissors like me!!  As always, I've coloured my image with copics - I love images like these as this one colours up really quickly (well, for me anyway, I usually fuss and it takes me AGES!!), and so are perfect for those "oops... I (nearly) forgot" moments!!

A Cheery Lynn die acts as a frame behind the image and a Marianne florish, flowers and pins finish my card off.  I don't think it's too pink for HB!

Please may I enter these challenges

Ladybug Crafts Ink - Girly, new release and blog hop week 2

Hello!!

It's the second week of this fortnights Girlie challenge over at Ladybug Crafts Ink, and the second week of the new release and the second week of the blog hop in which lots of fabulous prizes can be won!  Wadda-ya-mean you've not done the hop yet???  Here's where you need to head to get cracking!!

Still with me???  (I'm in quite a good mood as I type this... can you tell!!) OK... After I'd made my first card using the new image from the collection (yes I know it's a release, a range, whatever, but collection seems far more appropriate for these gorgeous images don't you think!!), I was itching to colour up another!!

And yes, I know these are technically Christmas papers... but I like them, and, shhh... I won't tell if you don't!!

So I coloured my image using my copics, going a bit darker with the shoes than on my last card, then I added lots and lots of bling down the front of the shoes.

The die cut round the edge is a Memory Box - it's meant to be a circle, but I thought it covered up too much of the image as a whole, so I cut it in half and looped it round the back, and I think it looks quite effective... I must get my scissors out and hack my die cuts to pieces more often!!

A bit of matting and layering and all done - amazingly for me, no ribbon!!

Thanks for looking

Ooooh!!  Please can I enter these challenges??  Thank you xx

Monday 4 February 2013

Wow!

Regular readers of my blog will have noticed that my posts have been less than, er regular of late...

Surfice to say what with work (too much of it), then other issues (I'm still there, but thought I might not be at one point!!), and being a bit poorly, and Christmas (more stress!) my mojo took a serious nose-dive!  With the help of my crafty friends, and support from both the Southern Girls and Ladybug Crafts Ink DT's I've made it back from the dark-side, and am colouring and creating again... whoo hoo!!

I was especially pleased that with my second card since my little hiatus to have been picked as a top pick over at Come and Get it Challenges - nothing like a bit of a nod of appreciation to make you happy!!

So a massive thanks from me for stickling with me... and for the occasional kick up the rear (naming no names... OK... Julie and Kerry in particular!)
