Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 50 - Anything Goes

Hello!!

Before I get going onto today's card for this weeks Scrapbook Sisters Challenge, I'd like to say sorry for the lack of posts in the last week - I still don't know what is going on at work and if I will have a job or not, and it has really unsettled me.  Having said that I went away at the weekend with HB to help a racing team his company sponsors, and it was just what I needed, getting away from all the stress of the last week and having to focus on helping to get the two cars they were running ready to go out for qualifying and racing was a great distraction, and if I did think about things someone somewhere would start up an engine and drown out any negative thought... literally!!  The team did really well, and both cars made it to the end of their races in one piece, and picked up a win and a second in class.  My word though, I was tired when we got home late on Monday!!  HB has suddenly figured that my crafting hobby might, contrary to his normally voiced opinion, is comparatively cheap - some of the set ups we saw at the weekend must have cost an absolute fortune!!  I don't think I'd ever see the day he thought that but there you go, I'll remind him of it when he next mentions how much my hobby costs :-D

Anyway, enough waffle, here's today's card... The challenge this week is

I really enjoyed making the distressed tag card the other day, and decided to give it another go - perfect for me last week as I needed to be able to take it all out on a piece of cardstock!!

I used a combination of Antique Linen, Pumice Stone and Vintage Photo distress inks over the top of stamped and embossed Autumn Leaves christmas stamps.  The snowflakes are several layers cut from a Marianne Creatables die, and the stunning image is Girl with Presents which is available from Scrapbook Sisters for the bargain price of £1!!
The snowflakes in the corners are from a set that I got ages ago when Lakeland used to do craft stuff, and I added some star shaped bronze gems to the embossed snowflakes.  The die onto which the image is stitting is another Marianne die.
HB looked at it and said it wasn't very Christmasy - honestly, everyone's a critic!! - but I like it, and not everyone likes traditional green/red/gold!  AND it seriously destressed me, so this one gets extra brownie points for that alone :-D

Nursery Graduation, a thank you card and a hug!!

Hello!!

Just a quick post from me as we are off to Mallory Park racetrack tonight to help the raceteam that HB's company sponsors in a race tomorrow... that sounds very jet set, but F1 this ain't!!  Fingers crossed they do well though

Today I am sharing a card I made for my youngest son's nursery school teacher who left on Friday.  It was also their graduation ceremony as they all start going to big school in the next couple of weeks.  An emotional day as he has been at the same nursery with more or less the same staff since he was 2 months old

Here's some pics of the card

I was pushed for time, so kept it simple and used the sketch from this weeks Simon Says Stamp Challenge

I used a Mo Manning Digi (think it is called You're my best...) and teamed him with some MME papers and dotty Bazzill, Whimsey ticket and Woodware sentiment, some twine and a big bold button.  I've cut him out and rolled a ball tool round the edge and adhered him with silicon

Please can I also enter
(I'm hoping that this count as it's a leaving to go to school card)

I went to the ceremony, and he looked too cute in his mortar board

And I snapped some pictures of him with Kate, he made her cry by telling her he'd miss her!!  Having said that she is likely to still see him as she is going to the nursery that is attached to the school he is going to!

Right, gotta dash!!  Thanks for stopping by

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 49 - Recipe

Hi

Sorry I am late with this post for the Scrapbook Sisters Challenge which this week is a recipe!

The girls would like to see

Flower, Ribbon and Gem

Here's my card

I used some gorgeous MME papers with a cheeky little fairy by Kraftin' Kimmie

As ever, she's coloured with copics and I've popped some glamour dust on her wings

Please can I enter these challenges

and I used the sketch from Sunday Sketch and Stamp

Sorry for the lack of posts this week, but I found out this week I am at risk of being made redundant.  It was pretty much out of the blue and I have no idea at the moment what is going to happen, if I will still have a job or not and how much my T&C's will be affected.  It's a really horrible time as the team I work with work well together and there is no-one that is obviously more at risk than the others.  For those that are left we will have to cope with the same work but with a third of us gone, so right now not sure if it is better to stay or go!  I've worked there in various jobs for 17 years, so it's pretty much the only workplace I have known so the thought of moving is blooming scary, especially as there aren't that many jobs out there!!  I'm sure either way I'll be OK, I just need to know what's happening!!
Anyway, I'm getting there, and I HAVE to make a few cards over the next few days so hopefully that'll force my mojo back into action

Thanks for looking

Mini birthday

Just a quick post because I'm running late!!

Today I'm sharing the card I have made for HB's birthday the other day... OK, I'm going to fess up and say that

I had been putting off making it, because I HATE making cards for men,
I'd been getting all creative with my DT cards, and it kinda got waylaid
the wotsit didn't spend enough time in the garage at the weekend and I kept having to hide it (not easy when you are tying to get glossy accents to dry!)

Anyway, it ended up quite plain and simple, but it was personal as it had an approximation of his Mini on it (he did spot that I had left the lenses clear as he has on the real thing, and he liked it :-D

Supplies: Papermania Kraft card blank; Kraft CS; Bazzill Dotty CS; Scrapbook Sisters Car 5 image; saddle stitched ribbon; Ladybug Crafts Ink sentiment

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges please

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 48 - Blue for You

Hello!!

Blue for You

and I have to admit, I got a bit carried away, and ended up making three cards :-D  One worked out better than I'd hoped, one was pretty much what I was aiming for and the third, well it didn't turn out exactly as planned, and I'm not sure if it will survive as it is or get broken down and fiddled with!  I'll post it when I'm happer with it!!

Anyway, this might be a long one, so you can either grab yourself a cuppa and have a read, or have a quick peek at the pictures... I won't be offended !!

This is the card I am most pleased with, as it's very different from my normal style, so was quite a stretch for me, but I think I should try this more often!!.  I embossed a couple of images with clear embossing powder, and then got busy with some distress inks, stamped the chandelier and the sentiment, masked them then stamped the script stamp over the top in distress inks,  It didn't stamp prefectly as I was stamping on Bazzill and it's only one of the great value Prima stamps which don't seem to work that well with distress inks.  Normally I would have thought I'd wrecked the card, but I think it adds to the overall

The image is coloured with copics and theres a touch of sparkle with glamour dust on her gloves, bow and hem.  I'd got some bias binding from a haberdashery store recently and was itching to try it out.  The only think I might do differently would be to iron the creases out, but I kinda only thought of that after the card was assembled... duh!!  I also really like tag shaped cards, I just have't done one in AGES!!

Supplies: Image - Dancer 2 Scrapbook Sisters; Prima Scroll, Flower, Sentiment and Script stamps; Chandelier stamp - magazine freebie
Inks etc- Stone Grey Stazon; Antique Linen, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky Distress Inks; Versamark: Clear embossing Powder; Glamour Dust
Ribbon etc - Prima Lace, Blue Grosgrain, Brown Bias Binding

I'd like to enter my card into these challenges please

My second card is the one that turned out pretty much as I'd hoped, and after all the stamping, inking and embossing of the first card I kept it CAS, layering the image on a blue sqaure - handcut I might add, I don't own any square nesties!!

I want my legs to look like these!!  Actually I want the shoes too :-D

Supplies - Blue Bazzill, Scalloped edged card blank; He Loves Me Digi , Scrapbook Sisters; Woodware Sentiment, Copics, Glamour Dust, Ribbon

Please may I enter this card into these challenges
Thanks for stopping by, hope you can join in with the challenge this week :-D

Birthday Blog Candy!!

*** This post will stay at the top until this Blog Candy closes, please scroll down to see what I have been creating!!  ***

I've been collecting bits and bobs for a while now, with the intention of putting together a blog candy giveaway to celebrate my recent blogaversary (it passed me by without me noticing... silly me!!), but as my youngest son, HB and I all have birthdays within 6 weeks of each other this seemed as good a time as any to actually collect all the goodies and schedule the post!!

It seemed a nice way to celebrate with all my blogging friends, old and new, and to thank you all for all the love and support you have shown since I took the step of actually posting things (as opposed to stalking people looking at others work, like I used to!!)... I'm not sure HB will be that impressed with me giving away things on what is supposed to be his birthday but hey ho!! :-D

I've tried to include some of my favourite-ist things, that I adore using, some of these were SO tough to give away!! So before I change my mind and pop one or two bits back in my stash... the giveaway includes (deep breath!!)

Marianne Creatables - Set of Three Snowflake Dies LR0123
Lili of the Valley - Christmas Surprise unmounted stamp
Nellie Snellen - Frog On Flower clear Stamp
Ladybug Crafts Ink - Wellies Robyn clear stamp
Tim Holtz - Grungepaper
Woodware- Borders and Buttons Chippies
Car shaped bare chipboard mini-book (I think this may be Maya Arts, but not totally sure!!)
One pack snowflake charms
One pack Snowflake Die Cuts
One metre each of 30 ribbons - a huge variety of ribbons in all kinds of colours, widths, finishes (satin, organza, lace, grosgrain, ruffled edge, wired edge) and patterns (plain, checked, striped and saddle stitched)

And I may pop a few bits and bobs in there as we go :-D... and I'm happy to post to anywhere in the world too!!

So what do you have to do to be in with a chance to win this lovely lot??

1.  Become a follower, if you aren't already!!
2.  Leave your name and a link to your blog with the little blue froggy thingy
3. Pop a picture of the candy with a link back to this post on your sidebar

That's it!!  Easy peasy huh??

I'll close the blog candy on the 16th August and use one of the random number generators (or a small child, if I'm in a technophobic mood!!) to pick the winner on the 17th August.Good luck!!Sue

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 36 - Favourite Stamp Midway Reminder

Hello!!

Where are the weeks going!!
Can you believe we are half way through August already!  Where is time going to?!  Anyway, the challenge
at Ladybug Crafts Ink is running all of the month of August, and the theme is

Good job I have more than one chance at making a card this month, as it would have been a tough job narrowing it down to one!!  Anyway I decided to use another one of the stamps from the Baby Baby set, and kept it neutral by using the same papers as for last weeks card.  I really like neutral colours for baby cards, especially as a lot of baby decor at the moment are neutral and the recipient could pop the card in a frame if they wanted.

Enough waffle, here's my card

I used some Bo Bunny double dot cardstock in Chiffon - both the dotty and the journal varieties.  The sentiment is included in the set.

I found it quite a challenge, as I wanted to stick to a cream colour scheme, and I stuggled to find the right colours in my copic collection, but I think I got there in the end.

I kept the inside simple, and used another of the sentiments stamped in Cocoa Momento

I'd like to enter these challenges

Thanks forstopping by, I'm really looking forward to your blue creations

Relax!

Hello!!

I seem to be very into green at the moment, no idea why, but there you go! Yesterday a green dragon, today a chillin' cutie :-D

This is another card I have made using one of the MME Lime Twist 6x6 paper packs, and one of the too cute by far images by the Paper Shelter.  I'd love to be able to laze out today, but no rest for me, and I'm off to work in a bit :-(

The design is quite simple but I glammed it all up with an oversized organza bow, onto which I stitched a button.  You can't see it very well in the picture but there is glossy accents on her sunglasses and the drink, and a touch of glitter on the flower in her hair and the umbrella in her drink.

Have a great week, don't forget there is still just time to enter the draw for my blog candy!!

Cheeky Dragon

Hello!

Sorry for the lack of posts in the last couple of days, my crafty mojo is coming in fits and starts, and I have been exhausted after going back to work this week, I think I need another holiday!!

Anyway, I managed to make a few cards which I'll be sharing over the next few days.  First up is a fairly simple one using a Dustin Pike image and some MME papers.

Just love this dragon, he's so cheeky!

I finished off the inside using remnants of paper, and stamped the second half of the sentiment

LOL!!  I think I'm going to save this one for a friends birthday, he'll appreciate the humour :-D

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 47 - Stars

Hello!!

Oops, this post went live without any text on it... naughty naughty!!  I'd popped the pics on the other day with the intention of typing the post up last night, but I felt so rubbish I went to bed not long after getting home and it was the last thing on my mind!!  And then I forgot all about it this morning and set off to work without removing the scheduled post thingy, so a double fail :-D

So if you hadn't guessed, this weeks Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge is

Stars

and I decided to make a Christmas card with this gorgeous Mo Manning image, Personal Impressions sentiment and some sparkly Doodlebug papers

I added a touch of glamour dust to the star

I know the colours aren't traditional for Christmas, but I really like them :-D

Caramel baby

Just a quick post from me this morning, as work is calling - I really do not want to go in today - I came down with a rotten cold yesterday, which added to the going back after 2 weeks off was the last thing I needed!!

There is no new challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink as the Favourite Stamp challenge is running for the whole of August, but I couldn't resist making a card using another of my favouritist LCI images!  It was a tough choice I can tell you, but I decided to use one of  the images from the Baby Baby set - this is a gorgeous set of Baby images and sentiments

I decided on a muted colour scheme and went for a some creamy Bo Bunny Double Dot and Journal CS with some cream and chocolate Bazzill, as the card can be for a boy or girl and is quite contemporary.  The lace and the flower are by Prima and the printed ribbon is by East of India.  The dotted button is from a local haberdashery store

I coloured the image with copics, added a smudge of Antique Linen on the edges and matted on chocolate and cream cardstock .  There is a touch of glitter on the edge of the blanket

I got this sweet little wooden charm at Ally Pally earlier in the year and I've hung it on a Tim Holtz hitch fastener.  Getting some more of these are definately on my shopping list for the next show!!

And don't forget, you can still get free international shipping and buy one get one (same or lower value) half price...  what are you waiting for!!
