Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 30 - Make your own embellishments

Good morning!!  This week over at the Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge itis week it is the turn of the lovely Anita to set the challenge and she would like you to

Now I had all sorts of ideas for this one, involving making charms with Fimo, but sicky kids put paid to that idea and I went for making my own flowers out of the lovely felt Kerry has in her store... I'll park the fimo idea for another time :-)

I used some lovely papers from the "Its All the Little Things" Fancy Pants pad and a sketch from a few weeks back.  And check me out - I paper pieced Shopping Nikki's bags (I never do this, but always admire it on other peoples cards!)  The picture hasn't picked it out at all well but I also felt pieced one of the bags with a scrap of felt left over from the flowers.

I love this Marianne Die, and just added some caramel chalk eye round the edge to blend it in with the papers.  I also stitched round the edges of all the papers with brown machine embroidery floss.  Oooh and the lace is gorgeous on it's own, but this one has a strip of velvet ribbon along the middle, how lush is that!!

In the centre of the flowers are little gems I picked up off the table from a wedding we went to  recently.  Honestly you wouldn't believe the number of children I had to fight off to get them - in the end I popped them in my clutch bag as they were in danger of being snaffled off the table, by a little love while I went to the buffet :-D.  Tusk, kids today :-)

I'm really looking to seeing all the fabulous embellishments you come up with for this challenge - if you have time, why not check out what the rest of the DT have come up with?  Links to all their blogs are on the sidebar

Thanks for looking (and reading... honestly I'm not that horrible to small children!!)

More tomorrow!!

P.S.  Please can I enter these challenges - thank you :-)

CASsy Cutie

Two posts in one day!  Look at me go!!

I decided to make a quick card using the scraps from my earlier card to make another note card for my box - I'm now thinking of making a little box thingy and putting six or so in each one and giving them as gifts at Christmas or whenever!  I might just have enough to go round by then!!

Seeing as I'm missing out on our family day out due to sicky child, I thought I'd make the most of him being quiet and get some crafting done!

I used this weeks Sweet Stop Sketch, just rotated it 90 degrees

I used one of my favourite Kenny K images, and a Whimsy stamp

I really could get into this CAS thing you know :-)

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow!!

Just my cup of tea... or hot chocolate :-)

Hi!  I hope you are having better weekend than we are as my eldest got a sicky bug on Friday that left him wiped out most of yesterday as well, just as we thought it would be safe to go out today, the small one started yesterday... ewwww!!!!

Thankfully they aren't too ill too often, so it comes as a nasty surprise to them (and me!) when they are :-(

There does seem to be a nasty bug going around as both my MIL and FIL had it on Saturday night, so spent Sunday laid up in bed recovering... cue horrified look from my HB as it was their Ruby Wedding Anniversary yesterday and when he phoned to wish them a good day only to be told they had spent all of it in bed... it took a few seconds before he realised they were ill and not passing on more information than he wanted to hear... ROFL!!!

Which brings me in a kinda round-a-bout way to todays card, which I made for them.

I used some Bo Bunny papers that have been sitting in my stash for a while and used a Paper Shelter digi, some ribbon and a button.  The sentiment is by Woodware.

I printed a sentiment for the inside off on the computer as I didn't have anything suitable for a ruby wedding, I guess it's not something that is called for much!!

I quite like the combo of red and chocolate with these papers, I know its not that traditional a card for such an occasion but I think they'll approve :-)

I'd like to enter this card for these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great day :-)

All white, but she's no angel!

Good morning!

Over at the Kenny K Challenge this week is a WOW challenge, and this gave me the perfect excuse to get busy with one of my favourite images and the embossing folders :-)  lol, as if I ever need an excuse!!

Here's what I came up with!

In place of paper I embossed most of the panels, and added a die cut, organza and suede ruffle edge ribbon and lace, and some shiny white drops in two of the corners

I kept the image pretty colour free, just some very pale greys on her hair, and trainers and where I thought the shadow would be.  Oh and colour on her face too, to avoid the Twilight look :-).

I adore this image, but as my title say's she doesn't look particularly angelic!!

I'd also like to enter these challenges

That's it from me today, more tomorrow

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 37 - Row, Row, Row, Your Boat

Hi!  Today over at Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge the theme is

Row, Row, Row, Your Boat

I decided to make a masculine card using a Mo Manning Digi

I kept it simple, cos guys cards never seem to work for me if they are too fussy :-)

The paper is Basic Grey Urban Couture "Loselle", and I teamed this with a cream and mid brown CS.  The saddle stitched ribbon is also from Scrapbook Sisters.

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow :-)

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 29 - Animals

Good morning!

This week over at the Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge blog (akaTotally Ladybug Tuesday!) it is the turn of the lovely Pinky to set the challenge and she has chosen

I chose to use an animal as the main image, but as long as there is an animal somewhere on your card that's fine :-D

This card is for my Dad, who is 81 today, and he had cats on and off throughout his life, so I think he will appriciate Magnum!! (available here). The sentiment is also by LCI, as is the Meshy ribbon stuff :-)

Papers are by Fancy Pants, and the screw brads are by Woodware.

I'd like to enter my card into these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, I'm looking forward to seeing your creations :-)

Monday, first of a long run of Birthdays

Good morning!  I am NOT happy to be going back to work today, was it just me or was the weekend over FAR too quickly?!

I have a fairly hefty run of birthdays this week, as it's both my Dad's and my SIL's birthday tomorrow and we are going to a wedding on Friday.   I have also been asked to make two Christening cards for one of my friends, a tennis themed birthday card for another and a wedding card for someone else... I can see it's going to be a busy week!

Today I'm sharing the card I made for my SIL

She has just had a baby so I thought this Kraftin Kimmie image was perfect - although maybe I should have indicated bigger bags under her eyes!!  The papers are Bo Bunny Double Dot and Peacock Lane, and the pleated ribbon is available here

I used the scraps to do the inside

I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge Sketch, and I'd also like to enter these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow

Going Green

Hi, hope you are having a great weekend - my house is buried under the never ending piles of washing!!  It was a lovely day here yesterday, but up here on my hill there was a gentle breeze, so I took the opportunity to wash as many of the big things as I could.  Only trouble is now I have the ironing pile from hell!!

While the washing machine was chugging away I made a card or two and after all the black and white of the last few posts I thought an injection of colour was a good idea :-)

Seems as if I'm hung up on monochrome at the moment, what's that all about!!  Still with this Bugaboo image green was kinda a given :-)

The papers are assorted Bo Bunny as is the ribbon

I used the sketch from Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Please can I also enter

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow

Black and White Christmas

Good Morning!!

Hmmm, I'm not 100% sure that black and white is Christmasy, but hey, rules are meant to be broken!!

Today's card uses Girl with Presents, one of the Gayle Bond digi's available from Scrapbook Sisters

Here's my card

The papers are by Kanban, sentiment by Personal Impressions (I think!) ribbon by Berrisfords, Lacey circle nestie and a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder

It hasn't picked up AT ALL (!!!) on the photo, but I have added a touch of stickles to the trim of her coat, had, gloves and shoes.  Hmmm - I must take note of what Mary J and Julie have been saying this week about taking photos, this pic DOES NOT do her justice!!  It doesn't help that I never get to take my pics in natural daylight... grrrr!!, and that I still haven't got myself a light box, despite saying I will for ages now...I can't help it, I see nice papers and they win every time :-)

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges please

The Stamp Man - Bingo Recipe (I've used Stitches/Ribbon/Die Cut)
Kaboodle Doodles - Tic-Tac-Toe (Digi-Ribbon-Embossing)

That's it from me today - I promise to really try to post something that isn't black and white tomorrow :-)  In the meantime, have a fabulous weekend, thanks for stopping by

I've gone a bit black and white obsessed!

Good morning!

Goodness knows why but I've gone a bit black and white obsessed after making my DT cards for this weeks Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge!

So much so that I've got three more to share with you :-), although I'll share two today, cos they are pretty much the same card, just with a different image.  Is that cheating?  If it is sorry!!

Right, first up, one of my much neglegted Gorjuss Girls

The papers are by Theresa Collins but oh my, I'd forgotten until I was colouring her hair, how much I liked her!

The layout is one of my favourites, but my real favourite on this card is the felt on the panel and that I have used to make the flowers - gorgous proper wool felt (you can get it from LCI, here)

I'd like to enter this card for these challenges

My second card uses the Krafin' Kimmie stamp that arrived this week, that I won over at the Kraftin Kimmie challenge

I'd like to enter this card for these challenges

Sorry if I'm being a bit, you know, boring going all black and white- it kinda suits my mood this week :-/

One more to share tomorrow, and then I promise to do something COLOURFUL!!

Unitl then, thanks for stopping by, and have a great day :-)

Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge 36 - Black and White

Good morning!  Hope you are enjoying the week!

This weeks Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge is Black and White

I got all carried away with this challenge and now have all sorts of images coloured up in black and white!  I'll try to actually make a card with them and post them later this week!!  In the end I finished two cards :-)

This card is perhaps one of my recent favourites - I love the papers from my Fancy Pants "It's the little things" pad, the black and white ones in particular are stunning!

I used Clarabelle from Kraftin Kimmie - it was a bit tricky cutting round her antennae!!  I added a light coat of stickles to her wings

And used some of cuts to decorate the inside - greeting is by Woodware

I love this flower which I made out of tulle - hiding in there is a butterfly charm

Talking of butterflies, I then made a CAS card, to be added to my notelet collection! (although this one is a tall and skinny one!!)

Love the saddle stitched ribbon behind the squares.  The butterflies are cut using a Joy Crafts die, embossed and then inked with Black Soot Distress Inks.  The sentiment is by Papermania.

I decorated the inside too using an Artemio stamp set.

That's it from me today, thanks for stopping by and hope you can join in with the challenge :-)

Totally Ladybug Tuesday - Challenge 28 - Use Orange somewhere on your project

Good morning!  Welcome to another Totally Ladybug Tuesday/Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge!!

It's the lovely Mary's turn to pick the challenge this week, and she would like to see

Orange somewhere on your project

Hmmm - I'm not mad keen on orange, but that's why it's a challenge huh?

Anyway, I dug out my papers ended up with two cards.  For someone not that into orange I appear to have used quite a bit!!    Sunglasses at the ready then!!

The first card uses Amber from the BFF collection, Bo Bunny papers and some of the new Orange Twill Stripe (which you can get here)

I used some stickles to give Amber a bit of Bling!!

And used some of the stamps that are included in the set on the inside along with a Happy Birthday greeting from the Sentimental Numbers set

I then decided to make a notelet - I've got it in my head to make a few sets up and be able to give them as gifts at Christmas.  Yes I know it seems a long way off, but if I start now I might be able to get at least one set completed!!  Anyway, I decided to keep to the same design as the other day (a Sweet Sunday Sketch, here) and use some of the scraps from my main card, some other bits and bobs that were on my desk and some small bits of chocolate cs

I used Football Jack - I just adore his cheeks!!  The sentiment is from the It's Only Words 1 set - these are such a handy set, perfect for every occasion and stamp beautifully :-)

Hope you have time to join in our challenge this week :-)

If I could enter these challenges, it'd make me all happy!!
Amber (girl card)
Jack (boy card)

Cake making mice, whatever next

Hi, hope you are all well and are enjoying the weekend!!

We are off to Brighton in the Mini tomorrow - I must remember to take the camera and see if I can get an arty farty shot or two :-)

Just a quick post from me then, I must get to bed!!  Only trouble is that I'm not tired as I slept late because I woke up with a really bad headache and I took the tablets/sleep cure (and, before you ask, no there was no alcohol involved!!)

Before I get on with it, I was really pleased to see that I had won over at The Catered Crop this week, and was top three at Crafts 4 Eternity and If the Shoe Fits, whoo hoo!!

Right, enough of my blah, blah, blah!!  I'm not too sure about this card - I have been having a complete mental blank on and off this week as far as my crafting is concerned - goodness knows why!!  Maybe it's the pastel colours that aren't doing it for me.  In all honesty I liked the image when I bought it, but have really struggled to colour it in, but was not to be beaten and persevered.  Maybe this is one of those images where you need to colour it several times until you get the feel of it, where as some I just get straight away - why is that?!?  Am I the only one?!?!  Tusk, maybe I should stop being so negative!!

I used an old sketch, I think it was a Friday Sketchers one, such a shame they have finished now :-(  I can't be sure though as I had it in my ideas book, but with no details against it so it could be of any origin (even mine!)!!  Apologies for not being able to credit :-(

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

Right, better get to bed!

Thanks for stopping by

CASsy, Scrappy, Krafty

Hello!!  Phew, blogger appears to be working again, even though yesterday's post disappeared, but I have reposted it below!  Actually I'm gutted because I had a good trawl and looked at loads of things last night and commented too (I was so behind!!) and I think they have all gone :-(  I'm so sorry if you are one of the people who's comment has got lost!!

Anyhow, I'm soooo glad it's Friday but oh my word another week that has flown by!!

Today's card uses the same Paper Shelter image as yesterday but a much simpler design

I've used the sketch from the Sweetest Thing

but made it rectangular not square and made the image portrait not landscape, so hope it still counts for the challenge!

I coloured the Paper Shelter image in duck egg blues, and then used some scraps from recent projects, no new piece of paper cut here!!  I don't know about you but I have bags full of scraps that are generally too small to use on a project, but I feel so guilty chucking them out, not even into the recycling bin!!  I think this sketch is an excellent way of using them up!!

I stamped round the edge of the image with a freebie stamp I was given at one of the stalls at Ally Pally - a pretty useful stamp so I'm really pleased :-) - and used the same caramel chalk eye to ink the edges of the papers.

The gingham ribbon is from Scrapbook Sisters and is left over from this weeks DT card.  The swirl has been stamped directly on the card (I hate doing this, I am ALWAYS convinced I'm going to muck it up!!) and is by Autumn Leaves and the sentiment is by Woodware.  The blue paper is the reverse of one of the papers, but I ran it through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss dots embossing folder for a bit of dimension and interest.

Hope you like it!  I'm really pleased how it turned out :-)  As much as I *love* piling it on a card, I do like the CAS look too :-)

I'd like to enter these challenges

Thanks for stopping by

Roaring Twenties

Hi!  Today I am sharing one of two cards I made using a digi image I won recently from the Paper Shelter Challenge Blog

She's such a sweetie!  I thought a cool blue and neutral colour scheme would go well with her, and it was an ideal opportunity to use some of the luscious papers from my Fancy Pants "It's the little things" pad and some ribbon by East of India that I got at Ally Pally, which I thought looked a bit vintage-y to go with the image

It was also an ideal opportunity to make my own flowers (pick yourselves up off the floor!) using the lovely felt from Ladybug Crafts Ink and my Sizzix flower die, not bad for a first attempt at making these with felt, although I needed a bit of sparkle in there, so added a cabochon gem to the centre of each

The ticket is made up from my Papertrey Ink set, and I gave the edges of al the papers a distressed/aged look with a caramel coloured chalk eye

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

My Time to Craft - Scallops (hope the scalloped border punch counts)

That's it from me today!  Hope you have a great day, more tomorrow
