Ladybug Crafts Ink Grand Finale

This is one post I never wanted to write, and I'm welling up as I type this ;-(

It's all about the stationary at Top Tip Tuesday...

Hello!

It's time for another Top Tip Tuesday, and this time it is to use stationary... if I'm being 100% honest I really struggled with this one - I'm more of a flowers and bows kind of a crafter than a metal one.  Maybe I see too much stationary every day at work to get inspired by it when I'm trying to relax :-D

Anyway, after a bit of a think I dug out some paper fasteners/brads and started playing... as I needed a thank you card, and had unearthed a whole heap of scraps my card came together.  I guess I could have popped an image on here, but I quite like the simplicity of this one without!  The brad was a bit brassy for the papers, so I coloured it with a Copic marker, I think it looks OK, and is a good way of matching metal items to your project.  Although I would recommend more patience than I had first time round, and letting the ink dry, or you end up covered :-)

Anyway, hope you like my interpretation of this weeks theme...

Anything Goes with Bugaboo at Top Tip Tuesday

Hello!

Apologies for such a long absence... to cut a very long story short we were burgled back in May, and everything I need to post on here was stolen (laptop, cameras etc)... then I realised that when they had thrown my printer on the floor they broke that, and realised last week my Grand Caliber also had been broken... gutted over it all doesn't quite cover it.

Anyway, I've chucked out everything that was broken, redecorated my bedroom and replaced the contents of my underwear drawers - just couldn't cope with the thought that horrible people had been in my personal space, and rumaging through my undies!  Yuck :-(  I hope that they get everything they deserve for making my children cry, and making us all not feel safe in our home.

Now I've done battle with the insurance company I can replace the stuff that was taken, and get creative again, it totally sapped all my energy.  And I'm delighted that both LCI and Top Tip teams that I design for have been wonderfully supportive and sympathetic, both giving me a leave of absence to sort out the insurance, house, police, children and me (being mum, I dealt with it all then it all hit me like a brick)!  Thank you all, you are fabulous xxx

Anyhooo... So without further ado... this weeks Top Tip Tuesday is an Anything Goes challenge, sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps... and there is a fabby tutorial on shaker cards... check it out... just love shaker cards especially in the run up to Christmas :-).  I used one of my go-to images - Har Repotter the chosen one.

I've not quite decided who will get this one yet, so I'll add a sentiment later!  And oh my, taking two months off has affected my ability to tie bows!  What's going on there, this took ages, and it still doesn't look right to me!!  Anyway, the papers are MME from a Halloween range from a couple of years ago - love these as they are all textured and lovely :-)

It's time for another challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink - and this time it is the turn of the super-talented Julie to choose, and she has picked

All the DT have used images from the Nikki range - this is probably where I should confess just how much I love this range of images, as they were what got me into colouring and cardmaking in a big way - and I have loved returning to use Original Nikki - available as a digi here or a stamp here, or

I couldn't resist going all out on this card - I think I have done enough plain and simple cards of late, and I was just crying out to get everything on here!!  So there's ribbon, flowers, lace, die cuts, pearls, cheesecloth, stitching, charms, brads, glitter, gorgeous papers, and some frantage embossing power too (super impressed with myself at finally using this stuff!!)  I really love this card - and I think Nikki has a hint of 50's glam to her :-)  Either way, how stylish is she with her shades up on her head, and her cute pooch at her feet:-)

 

I've coloured her with my copics, sticking to pale lilac tones

Flowers Galore at Ladybug Crafts Ink

Hello!!  Two posts from me in one day - whatever next!!

Today at Ladybug Crafts Ink there is a new release, the third in the ever popular Floral Delights range - check them out in the store here.  As ever these really versatile images are great for a whole range of uses - all of them are my go to images for Birthdays, Get Well, Sympathy, Thank You, or just to say Hi!  I think it's brilliant to have an image that you can use again and again for different people, for different uses... not that it has stopped me getting the whole lot :-)

Anyway, enough of my waffle... here's my card...

I went one layer CAS - I'm really getting into the CAS thing now (don't panic, I'm still chucking the kitchen sink at my cards most of the time!), as it's great for when you need a card quickly, don't have loads of time, or even when the recipient isn't a more is more kinda gal :-)

Girly at Top Tip Tuesday

Hello!

I've been missing for quite a while... apologies.

This weeks Top Tip Tuesday Challenge is to showcase your girly cards - make them pink, cute, loada bling... whatever floats your boat!

I went for the cute, but not pink look, using a cute Heather Ellis image - Pure Innocence 20 - but went for a calm colour scheme.  Actually I know exactly who is getting this one - and I've made it a whole 3 months early!!  Get me being all organised!!

Anyway, I'm not going to waffle today, just to say that I used some gorgeous MME papers, and some ribbon from my stash.  As the intended recipient is not a pink girl, this is just perfect, but still feels like something a little girl would like :-D

Clean and Simple at Top Tip Tuesday

Hello!  Long time no see :-)

I hope you had a great New Year!  Are you getting used to writing 2014 yet?  I'm still at the think about it before writing stage!

Right onto today's card for Top Tip Tuesday which is 

Clean and Simple

I will admit to New Year Blues when making this one, and my mojo is still obviously nursing her New Years Eve hangover...

I remembered seeing something quite cool with brads a while ago, I can't remember where or when though, so while I was tiding my craft stash up (OK... I'll admit, I wasn't tiding, I was trying to find something I'd lost!)  I found a pot of the things, and some circle punches and inspiration struck!!

I desperately need to send some Thank You cards and this was pretty quick and easy, once I'd stopped faffing and got on with it!  I can see a little production line of these being turned out!  Actually, as I'm typing this, wouldn't it be cool to make 6 of these and a little gift box to put them in... oooh... I think my mojo has woken up!!

Anyway, enough with the blah blah blah... here's my card

Oh, and if the bottom right brad looks a bit sparkly, it's because it is!  It seemed that I only had 5 brown brads and as I'd already punched the holes had to find something that toned in, fortunately I had one (thank goodness I'd not punched 7 holes!) dark gold sparkly brad.

A few circles punched out of corrugated card here and there and a typewriter style stamp and it was finished... don't know why I was faffing so much!!

Snow Bear @ Top Tip Tuesday

Hello

I don't know about you, but this Christmas thing is getting a bit too close for comfort.  My house looks a tip (my own fault, I decided to start redecorating first week in December!), I've no idea who is getting what, and I'm seriously behind on the card front!

Well I can't turn back time and wait until after Christmas to spruce the house up, and thankfully its pretty much done.  The kids pressies are pretty much sorted (and I can always top them up with cash if need be!).  As for the cards - I'm afraid some people are going to get bought cards this year!  Some will still be made ones, but I've decided to put the cape away, and give up being Super Woman this year, it's far to stressful, and frankly, the cape keeps getting caught in the car door, and I'm getting odd looks wearing the tight fitting suit while in the supermarket...

Seriously, why do we do it to ourselves, it is only one day, and as long as the kids are sorted, no-one in my family actually cares about pressies, they just like catching up and relaxing... and if anyone cares to mention that maybe I should have presented the house better, then they will be given a duster and asked to right whatever wrongs they can spot!   Hmmm, I could could say something meaningful about the spirit of the season here, but I think you get the point :-D

Anyway, I think this is pretty much it from a Christmas/Season's Greetings card point of view from me this year.  Depending on how things go, there might be one or two more, but I'm not worrying if not!

OK... so this fortnights Top Tip Challenge was to incorporate Snowflakes and I used an image from this fortnights sponsor - Stampfairy - this little guy is Barry Winter 1.  I just love this little guy - how cute is he?

I know the snowflakes are subtle on this one, as I've used Kraft CS, but they are there... honest!!

I used papers, cheesecloth and pins from Live and Love Crafts, plus my go-to Christmas die by Memory Box.

 

And I liked it so much, I did another one, in a different colourway, and reversed the position of the bows and bits and bobs

Still love him in his blue outfit...

Again, I've blinged up his hat, and added gems to the die cut (on this one, the gems on the lace came already attached!)
 

So there you go, wait ages, and two come along at once!

Keep It Clean (and Simple) @ LCI

Hello!

It's just stuck me how similar both my posts are today - it's really not intentional!

I made this card a couple of weeks ago for a demo evening at my friends, Karen, Bev and Stacey's Craft Club.  Kerry (aka Head Ladybug) very kindly let me use this rather fab image, and it was a bonus as it fitted perfectly with Susan's challenge at Ladybug Crafts Ink which is

Clean and Simple

I really like this image, it's cool and stylish and works so well with a CAS style - if you want your own, it's called Shoe Tree Delight, and there is also Handbag Delight for the handbag lover in your life!!  It was also lots of fun seeing the ladies who came to the demo night play create their own versions of the card.  I'm certainly no Copic star, but I'm happy to help others try things and pass on tips and hints that I've picked up through trial and error (mostly error, if I'm honest!)

Why is my picture fuzzy!!!  I blame the photographer (me!!)  I'll try and change it to a non-blury one ASAP.  Honestly, you'd think I'd taken it after my work Christmas Party (hic!)

This will be the last LCI challenge this year... boooo.... but we will be back on 4th February.... hurrah!... with lots more inspiration and images galore - double hurrah!!  Can you tell it's Panto season?  LOL

Before then I hope to be posting lots of lovely cards, but in the meantime, I hope you have fun playing along with this fortnights challenge

I need to fess up here, this is NOT the card that I should have been posting today, but there was a slight hic-cup, caused in no small part by the entire family (except me!) being ill, and me not being as on top of things as I usually am... honestly, you'd think that I was a planner in real life, and should be organised with everything that is going on!  oooooh... wait... that is what I do... bother!

Anyway, I hope to post the original card as a mid-way reminder next week, or maybe before if I can't wait :-D

Soooooo, today's Top Tip Tuesday Challenge is Snowflakes, and we are sponsored by Stamp Fairy.

I've gone a bit CAS today though (just wait til you see the very-not-CAS card that should have been making an appearance today!!).  I'm loving embossing on Kraft - it looks fabulous and it you get a hot-spot it doesn't seem to notice as much as on pure white- not that I do that ever!!  Also, as the festive season (and last posting dates) gets ever closer I think we all go a bit simpler, if nothing else, the postage costs of heavy cards are horrific when you are posting more than just one card!

I've used one of my oldest ever stamps - it's a wooden one and was one of the cheapest I ever bought, so it's a bit of a mare to stamp, but I still like it.  I've used a Metallic black embossing powder with a hint of glitter.  But a Snowflake it most certainly is!

Hope you are having a better week than me - it can only get better from here for me!

We've got the Blues (and White) at LCI

Hi!

This week's Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge is a brilliant one, just in time for Christmas (or any other time, thinking about it!), as we'd love to see your 

Blue and White

creations - anything from a rich royal blue, to a frosty ice blue, or how about a regal navy blue?

Actually, I didn't realise it at the time, but I redecorated my bathroom in some lovely blue shades at the weekend... and re-painted the ceiling white too.  I didn't take any pictures of this particular ladybug taking the challenge a bit too seriously and painting herself white and blue as well... :-D  Still it looks a million times better and fresher now than it did on Friday!  I've just a few bits and bobs to finish, and some accessories to make, things that I had before to upcycle, and maybe treat myself to a new towel set, and it'll be back to bathroom heaven :-D

Enough of the rambling, back to the challenge... I went for a teal/turquoise blue, although I will say it's a lot more blue in real life than the piccies show!  That ribbon looks a bit green from here, but I promise you it's not!

 I've used some MME papers, not Christmas ones, but the colours work, and who'd know!

As I wanted some cards to send this year that were a bit more traditional, but still glam and in my normal style, and this one - Christmas Wreath Delight - is simply perfect.  I've coloured it with a selection of blue pens, adding a touch of green to the foliage, then adding a dash of glitter to the ribbon and some of the baubles.

 

 I decorated the inside to match - this sentiment was a freebie from a magazine

Be Krafty at Top Tip Tuesday

How are you?  OK I hope, I've not been about as much as I would have liked in the last week - sorry!  I have been busy though and have some things to share, hopefully in the next couple of days, if I remember to take some photos!

Anyway it's time for another Challenge at Top Tip Tuesday where this fortnight the challenge is to

Be Krafty

Just my kind of a challenge, as I am a proper convert to Kraft, and it seems to work with all sorts of colours. 

For this card I just let the Kraft do its thing, with just a hint of white and a pop of colour on the image. 

 I've used Snowman Ornament 1 from Bugaboo, who along with Shape EZ are this fortnights sponsors.  I love this cute little guy, but decided as he is quite simple to print him out three times and fussy cut and decoupage the layers up.  I'm itching to print him out again and try him as a CAS card - maybe I'll get the chance this week :-D

Getting Krafty @ LCI

This fortnights LCI challenge has been set by the rather fun and fabulous Sally (have you checked out her blog??? No, what are you waiting for??? Her cards are gorgeous!!!), who has asked us to

Don't mind if I do!!!  Lol :-D

I do love a bit of Kraft CS, it really sets an image off - sometimes I use a colour or white, but Kraft is my go-to for a base card, and often for an accent too :-D

Sorry, there's me chatting, not showing piccies, again....

There's all sorts of stuff going on with this card, just love this LCI image - Tom and Snowman - I'm not too sure what the reindeer thinks about being used as a stepladder, but needs must ;-).  I took the colour cues from the lovely papers I got from Live and Love Crafts, and then just went nuts with Lace, Jute, Pins and a fabby brass mittens embellishment also from Live and Love Crafts, some flowers, button, ribbon and velvet ric-rac from my stash, and there are dew drop gems, embossing, glitter, and die cuts too.  The banner sentiment is from Stampin' Up, and although quite a few friends seem to have started selling their lovely products, I got these from Caroline a few weeks ago.  Naughty me, I didn't buy the die (is there a die for this one????) I just used my scissors... even if I had the die (if it exists!) I reckon when you are only cutting 3 out, scissors are far easier :-D  I've also gone a-la DT buddy and friend Julie and played loop-da-loop with the bakers twine.  I know it's a bit busy, but it's a Christmas card, and we are all busy at Christmas, so it kinda fits... LOL!!

Exciting News!!

Hello!

I've been itching to tell you a secret... good job my internet connection got affected by the storms a couple of weeks ago or I'm sure I would have blabbed before now!  Soooo... do you want to know?

Cool huh?  I do love a good tip - sometimes we all look at something and try to figure it out, and Top Tip Tuesday Challenge Blog gives away all those little secrets that all crafters, regardless of how long they've been crafting for, can benefit from

Shall I share my first creation as a newbie DT member?  Deneen found this little gem from back in 2010

Never being one for convention I flipped the sketch 90 degrees, and fiddled with the shapes a bit :-D

 

I like this card - it's quite flat (for me!) so at least one card this year isn't going to cost me a fortune in postage :-D

The papers are MME ones from my stash (still on a paper diet... I'm trying to use stuff up, worryingly I can't see any significant impact!!)

I just love this Nevaeh image from Saturated Canary - she's available as a proper stamp from Stamp and Create, one of this fortnight's challenge sponsors.  I really like using images throughout the year, just amending the colour scheme to suit - I can't wait to colour Nevaeh in spring colours when the weather turns warmer!

Introducing Cassie, one of the new Girls at LCI!

Hello!!

Did you like the first 6 of the new Skinny Malinky's  released last week?  Today sees the release of the second set of ladies, and I have been given the glamourous Cassie to play with.

I just love monochrome cards, and couldn't resist using some of my black and cream papers for this one!

I couldn't resist using a pop of red though :-D  And she looked like a blingy sort of a girl to me, so I went a bit nuts with the crystals and pearls all round her, and glitter on the boxes and on her red shoes!  I just wish I could get the camera to calm down and take a decent picture when there is quite a bit of sparkle on a card... it can't be operator error :-D

I was pretty stunned when Sandi came back to me, and asked me to join in with today's challenge, but I really enjoyed working with this gorgeous Paper Shelter image Was Not Me, you can just imagine the cats expression!

I used some Bo Bunny papers from an age ago, some lime green ribbon and a witches broom die cut I found in my stash, along with a TH die cut - I don't use this one enough!!

Magnum and Lily's Winter Wonderland

Take 3...

Hello!

I hope you are laying down!  This is my third card in a week, can you believe it!  No, me neither :-D

I made this card a little while ago for a magazine article featuring the Ladybug Crafts Ink Killer Heels collection - I think I'm safe to show it now!

I'm really sorry about the poor picture quality - I took a quick snap to send to head Ladybug, and then took some more using my lightbox later, but HB appears to have deleted those ones from the memory card... and as it has long been posted, there is not a lot I can do about it now!

The image is Killer Hearts, and the obvious thing would have gone for red or pink, but I like breaking with tradition and went for browns and creams :-).  I wasn't sure it would work, but was really pleased with the outcome!  Just goes to show that a great image will colour up in any shade and still look fabulous!

Love this La-La Land heart banner die and the twiddly one from Memory Box, the papers are from my Simple Stories "Documented" 6x6 pad, and the ribbon is from my stash, and I went round the edge of the image with some guilding flakes

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

Hello!!!

I thought I'd share yet another Chistmas card today, another one using one of the many Lili of the Valley images in my collection

I've had a count up of the number of cards I need and I will probably still be going in February at this rate!  I think I'm going to have to do a few quick and simple ones to bump up the numbers!

I used some of the lush papers I got from Live and Love Crafts, the lace is from there too - it's stunning, it took me quite a while to cut this one up!  The charms, brads, pins and flowers are all from my stash, and the snowflake die cut in the corners is by Memory Box

The sentiment (magazine freebie) has been stamped on a scrap of paper before being stuck to some chipboard, then die cut with a Sizzix die and distressed to show some of the chipboard, pinning it onto the card with a brad

I coloured these cute little pengiuns up with my copics, then spread some snow-tex around the base of the igloo, then shook glitter over it while still wet.  I'm not totally sure I like the effect, but maybe I just need a bit more practice!

I decorated the inside with more of the same papers, and some assorted stamps

Meet Hillary and the Skinny Malikies at LCI

Hello!

I've been a bit tardy posting on here recently... apologies!

Today is a special day at LCI, as we are celebrating the release of a new range of digi images - have a look at the store to see the first 6 in the release!

I've used the rather fabulous and stylish Hillary

Now anyone that knows me will be a bit shocked by the simplicity of this card, but I thought this image would be great to send to a friend as a simple hello, plus I've been itching to try colouring on Kraft for ages, but never been brave enough!

Anyway, I quite like it, and it certainly took me less time to do than the more-is-more style that I usually go for!

 

I don't have any prisma pencils, so just used my copics... hmmm I can see an addition to my Christmas list coming soon!!

Anyway... you need a letter from me...

Late, but not square at LCI

Hello!

I was supposed to post this card this morning... naughty me!  I was meant to be putting the finishing touches to it last night, but was a bit shaken up after a very near miss with a 4x4 in the lanes, after he went off the road, through the hedge and fence into a field, to miss the van in front of me, only to come back onto the road right by me.  He missed me by millimetres, and I was pretty freaked out when I got home and realised just how lucky I'd been.  What an idiot driving that fast on country lanes, hope it costs him a fortune to repair the damage!

Anyway, I finished my card off tonight instead, and Kerry (head ladybug!) has promised not to sack me :-D

No Squares

After I stopped hyperventilating at not being able to use squares... I always use squares!!... I thought, OK, I'll go with circles and got busy with my circle cutter (I don't have a set of the big nesties, or even a big die cutting machine!).  The simple compass like cutter doesn't cut circles anywhere as neatly as a cie, but it does the job :-D

I used some MME papers from my stash (they are halloween ones, not that there is a lot of the paper left to see!) and black and dark orange cardstock.  Despite it meant to be a spooky card, I couldn't resist adding a TH die cut, lace, ribbons, pins, bows and pearls and a bit more lace!  I also inked up one of the stamps I got from Stampin Up, then coloured in the white bits with some distress ink

I just love colouring up Magnum, please don't ask me how I do the stripes, I just keep adding more colour and, and blend it out with lighter tones from the same colour family until it looks kinda right, there's no science to it :-D  I printed the Pumpkin in a larger than life size, and popped Lily on Magnum's hand.  If you like Magnum, check out all the add-on's that you can get to make him a cat for all seasons here!

It's not a super scary Halloween card, but I hope you like it!
