The black lace ribbon I have used is a velvet one that came on a bunch of flowers from back in the day when my hubby used to do such things (hint, hint!!!), and I've blinged up the flowers too

I've used Winestool Nikki as she seemed really appropriate for a celebration card.  She's been stamped onto Neenah with Tuxedo Black Momento, coloured with copics and given her a very liberal sprinkling of glamour dust

OK, now I know what CAS means!!!, oh and another teal card :-)

Hi!! How did it get Friday???

I don't know about you but I HATE it when people (normally at work) start abbreviating things to initials.  Normally there are three of them,- initials, not people -  so they become three letter acronyms (or TLA as they are also known, abbreviated... always makes me chuckle that such a phrase has become a victim of it's own "success")  I have always thought that they are commonly adopted by senior managers who frequently have no idea whatsoever of what the TLA's mean, but use such jargon as a means to assert their authority, and look like they understand and are in control, 'cos if you ask what on earth they are talking about you are the one that looks like the ninny...

I get similarly confused when HB watches films of the action genre... I mean is DEFCON 3 better or worse than DEFCON 5??? and what is DEFCON anyway... I meant it's a six letter acronym, so that has to be serious right???    I have a sneaking feeling I'm better off being ignorant on that one!! (if you know the answer, please don't share, especially if we've just hit DEFCON 6 or 2, whichever whay it works ... just tell me how lovely the card is and I'll go through the pearly gates a happy woman!... )

So, back to the subject... I have enough of management speak at work, so to be honest I was pretty alarmed to find it had found it's way into my beloved world of craft, which i had (wrongly???) assumed was a safe haven!!

So tonight I am going to share a Clean and Simple card with you, or CAS as some call it... please, I implore the crafty community to type those extra 11 letters!!  Honestly, it doesn't take long!!

I needed this card tonight as I have been working on a load of party invites this week (got bored after 5)...  and two special cards (wait 'n' see) ... so needed to do something with no stress but that would deal with my creative urge (but be done in time to watch last ever Big Brother!!)

In essence I have followed the sketch by Mercy which you can see here.  I love her sketches as you can go plain and simple as I have tonight, or go all out and bling it up!!

This one is a simpler Teal Card than I've been doing of late, and I've had some fabulous cards sent to me., all of which is in aid of Ovarian Cancer Research and you can win some fabulous blog candy, all for making a card and sending it to me :-)  Check out what you could win here

Orange Cupcakes

Hi!  Sorry I haven't posted much for a few days, but I've had a bit of a busy week.  Somehow - read me and my big mouth getting me into trouble again - I have ended up doing a rush order of 50 invites for one of the girls at work and that hasn't left me much time to do any other crafting :-(.  I'm on the home straight with them now though - half are finished, and the rest are just waiting for her to print out the wording for me and then they are done too :-)

So tonight I'm sharing a card I made a couple of weeks ago

The lovely image is Cupcake Ruby from Ladybug Crafts Ink and I have coloured her with copics, glittered her wings and put Orange stickles on the bottom of her dress and top of her boots, isn't she cute!

Some orange gems in the corners finished the card off

Just for a change... pink and green

Evening! On my way home tonight a sure sign that Autumn is nearly upon us as there were hundreds of swallows in the valley that leads to our house, all swooping and diving.  They looked so graceful that I slowed the car to a crawl so I could watch them for probably one of the last times before they make their journey south to southern Africa, not that they have had a very good summer with us this year!!

Perhaps then that's why I chose to make a summery card tonight - I'm hanging on to the promise of a warm September, although I think I'm going to have to concede defeat and start getting the jumpers out soon

I have used some My Minds Eye 6x6 papers that came free with a magazine the other month.  The paper isn't as good a quality as the real thing, but they aren't too bad :-)

I've added a Prima pearl swirl, a strip of adhesive lace and a ribbon bow, and I thought the sentiment suited the image, which is coloured with copics

An odd weekend, keep reading there is a card at the end!!

Hi, I'm back on line after a really odd weekend, this is going to be a bit of a long one, but feel free to skip all my waffle and have a peek at the card at the bottom!

Yesterday was the first time I didn't post anything since I started blogging :-(  I had a migrane that wiped me out for most of the day.  I thought it had lifted and nipped next door for my neighbours party but by 10pm it had returned and I had to go home - still at least I didn't have far to go!!

Thankfully a good sleep and a lot of painkillers later it had lifted enough for me and HB to go to Brands Hatch to watch the DTM (German Touring Cars) as our friends Alan and Tracy had invited us up to their suite again :-)

When we got there on the door of the suite next door was this sign

Now if you don't know who David Coulthard is, he is an ex Formula 1 driver who now is an F1 pundit for the BBC and also drives in the DTM, and yes, I really did take a picture of a door!! - although I did get Tracy's daughter to stand near it, so it kinda looked like I was taking a picture of her, but guess the secret's out now huh?!

Tracy and I did keep our eyes peeled, and I was hoping for a rather excellent photo opportunity (imagine the scrapbook page, LOL!), but this was the closest we managed to get to Mr Coulthard all day - he's driving the yellow car!!

Bother!!

Bizzare moment of the day came when we were in the suite and a couple of the kids from next door had come in to watch the British Touring Cars that was on the TV (don't think David's suite had a telly!!), one crashed (not badly though) and a "Uhhh, Dad!! he crashed last weekend as well" comment was made from one of the kids, turns out that his dad is a BTCC driver.  I'm not going to name and shame the driver involved, but it's nice to know that even if you are a racing car driver your kids are still embarrassed of you, LOL :-)

Right since I have done no crafting all weekend I thought I'd share this card, that I made a couple of weeks ago, with you - it's a variation on a theme from a few months back, but it's a design that works so well with pretty much any sitting down image it'd be a shame not to put it on my blog!

Teal card number... no idea I've lost count!!

Evening, a late post from me this evening.

I've no idea why but I decided to attack the garden after I got home from work, a bit of heavy duty pulling and cutting then gave the lawn a much needed mow, I'm feeling the effects of it now though so this is going to be a quick post then I'm off for a soak to try to ease my shocked muscles!

I'm back on the teal cards after a couple of days doing something different and this is what I made last night.  If you have no idea what I'm going on about please read this post to find out how you can get involved and win yourself some rather lovely blog candy!

I've kept the rest of the card quite simple with lots of lovely white space, and as I didn't have quite the right colour flower I have coloured up a white one with copics and used a purple button for the centre

I've used one of the Gorgeous girl stamps as I just love colouring her hair :-)   I've added a spot of glossy accents to her hair slide

In the pink!

Evening!   Hope you are having a great week :-)  Today I can share something with you that I have been bouncing up and down about for a couple of weeks!!

The Scrapbook Sisters (Karen and Julie) have set up a new card challenge on their blog and have asked me to be on their DT :-) 

The first challenge has launched today and the theme this pink and black, which are their signature colours, and I have created this card for the challenge - click here to go to their blog and the challenge - there is some fab stash for one lucky person!  There is also some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the DT.  You have until midnight GMT on Tuesday 14th September to submit your card, so I really hope you give it a go!

I've used some lovely Bo Bunny papers - Pedal Pushers Greenhouse and Licorice and Pink Punch Dot,  Pink and Black Bazzill, and added some satin edge organza ribbon and some pink pearls.  I was going to add some flowers too, but they didn't look right, and I just love the strong colours of the papers as they are :-)  The sentiment is from a Papermania set, which has loads of different wordings and has a great mix text fonts and sizes, and is a bargain at £5.99 too!!

I've used Download Diva by Kenny K, printed onto Neenah and coloured her with copics.  I love this image - I think it's her eyes!!

That's Better!

I finally got home at a shocking 9pm tonight, fortunately I wasn't at work but went to the hairdressers as my hairdresser has convinced me to have some colours put in - something I haven't done in about three years.  I think there's two blonds and a copper in there, but I'm not too sure as I just leave him to get on with it

It looks a bit, different, lighter, and I keep looking in the mirror and getting a shock LOL!  I'm wondering how far round the office I can get tomorrow before anyone notices it's me!

When I got home I got cracking making up a card using an image of Footballing Jack that I coloured up yesterday after my disaster, and I had an idea to use some of the Quite Contrary MME papers... only to find that Hayley, one of my fellow Ladybug Crafts Ink DT's had made a card using the same papers.  I dunno I think we are going to have to start having a rota on who can use what paper and when!

As I was in a creative mood but had him all coloured up already I've carried on, and here's what I came up with

I have to say after being a bit disapointed yesterday I'm really pleased that this one works ok, and no sketch either!   Yesterdays card looks so much better now the flowers have been removed and replaced with buttons, thank you to all who came to the rescue!!

I love Jack, but have coloured him with green shades this time, and I think it suits him - plus no doubt would hide the grass stains, so his mum might like it too  :-)

The sentiment is one from a set by Cloud 9 Design - it is a lovely set, and contains lots of phrases that are perfect for both cardmaking and scrapbooking.  I think my favourite from the set is "A boy is... Trust with dirt on it's face, Beauty with a cut on its finger"  This certainly sums my two up and seems more than appropriate for some of the other Jack images too!

The three day weekend has left me confused!

As much a I love bank holidays I totally confused now and have no idea what day it is!  

Still I've managed to make a couple of cards today, in between feeding and watering my two monsters.  To be honest I think my eldest has had enough of the holidays and wants to get back to school, but that isn't until Friday... why on earth they are starting the school year on a Friday seems madness to me, but they are!

Anyway, onto today's card

I used the sketch over at the Pear Tree Challenge 15, and I struggled a bit with it, but I don't know why... maybe because the monsters sounded like they were trying to create a direct link between my eldest bedroom and the lounge... I normally love working with sketches, and I don't know why this one didn't come together as I'd hoped, but there you go!

Anyway, here's what I came up with

I love the image, Martini Nikki, and I love the papers, but I'm not sure if the ribbon and flowers work as they are... I can see this one being deconstructed and fiddled with before I am happy.

The real pity is that the other card I did today has worked really well, but I can't share it yet!  How annoying is that!! 

I'm carrying on crafting for a bit this evening, then I want to grab an early night cos I know it's going to be a busy week at work - 5 days work, 4 days to do it in :-)

What a busy weekend

Just thought I'd check in and say Hi!

It's been a busy weekend so far, London, lunch and the science museum yesterday - lunch lovely but a 15% service charge a bit naughty, esp when they added 3 desserts to the bill which we didn't have... hmmm... science museum, good in parts, a bit stuffy and outdated in others, we didn't see it all, but think Natural History Museum next door next time (if nothing else cos I love the building!).  We got a couple of pictures but not loads as I didn't want to take my big camera into town and SIL has borrowed the point and shoot so had to use the camera on my phone and the images aren't brilliant :-(

Today we have had friends down, and the kids have been charging around, dinner was a home cooked Lasagne, yum yum!  But too tired to craft tonight, and eldest is hogging the PC where I store all the pictures of my completed projects, so this is a pictureless post .

Having a crafty day tomorrow though :-)  Hope you are having a great weekend

A Ladybug Celebration!

Something very exciting has happened to me, and I am delighted, surprised and really, really happy all at the same time!

A little while ago Kerry who owns Ladybug Crafts Ink, one of my favourite stamp companies, asked for applications to join her new DT, well I applied, kept everything crossed, but not in a million years did I ever think I'd be chosen!!  But I have!!  Whoo hoo!!

So I can now display this badge

How cool is that!!  Honestly I never imagined for one minute when I started cardmaking and more recently when I started blogging that I would ever get picked for a DT!

After that it seemed only appropriate to make a card last night to celebrate!!  Winestool Nikki seemed the obvious choice :-)

The papers are more from the Peacock Lane range by Bo Bunny, and I have coloured Nikki with Copics.  For a change I've put the ribbon top to bottom, and used some lovely organza that was lurking in my stash, along with some adhesive gems I'd forgotten all about :-)  Oh and there is a dot or two of stickles above her glass, and glossy accents on her shoes too.  As there is teal in there, I'm going to add this to the pile for the 25th of September - there is still plenty of time to join in with this and win some Blog Candy! 

I've no idea why the gems look like they do in the pics - they look like i've added them in photoshop afterwards, but I promise they are attached to the card and look nice and sparkly - if I get chance later I'll retake them in better light :-)

Friday night scrappin'

Evening!  Thank goodness it's the weekend, and for England it's a bank holiday, so whoo hoo!  a whole three days off :-)

Thursday quick post

Evening, bit of a late one for me, but just for a change I thought I'd share one of the layouts I recently completed at my regular fortnightly class at  Scrapbook Sisters.

In this class we used some of my favourite Bo Bunny papers.  I think I got away with using a photo of my son on this page even though it's quite a feminine layout, I hope he doesn't hold it against me when he's older LOL! 

The photo was taken of him at Brands Hatch racing circuit and he is watching the cars go down the main straight, honestly his little head goes right to left so quickly as the cars go past I worry it's going to fall off!  In contrast to my eldest, who comes with us sometimes and is seldom interested in the racing preferring to read his book, Sam loves the noise, the smell and of course the cars!  Oh and our friends whose box we go to always have lollipops on hand (which is obviously a deciding factor, when you are 2 or 3!)

We made the fence out of strips of white card and I think it looks really effective

Anniversary Card

Morning!  Quick post this morning as work (and kids) are calling!!

One of my friends needed an anniversary card for her Mum and Dad and asked me to make one, after a bit of discussion we decided on an all white card and my bunch of flowers stamp by Magenta

I've based it on the sketch over at Paper Sundaes Challenge 32 - Sketch

I've coloured the stamp with my copics, put glamour dust on the ribbon and dotted crystal stickles about on the sprays.  There are more layers of white card on this card (8!!!) than I thought possible :-)  sorry for the shocking photo as you can't really see them all!  It looks lovely IRL too!

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the Range.  I have made the pins myself and tied them with a bit of white organza ribbon.

What little boys are made of :-)

Morning!

After three days of teal cards my brain needed a little break (and a change of colour!), I'm looking forward to my regular scrapbook class tonight at Scrapbook Sisters as well, as I'm (shock horror!) actually getting quite a few finished of late!!  So I'm looking forward to a new challenge tonight :-)

This card is a quick one I made using Footballing Jack.  I am very short on boy images and I think I might just have to treat myself to one or two more in the range, as he's a bit of a cutie :-).  I still struggle with boys/mens cards though!

The papers are from one of the Forever Friends packs that I bought last year - the only reason I bought this pack was for my son to make his Dad a card as there is an image of a bear in a blue car and the last three letters on the number plate are the same as on HB's number plate, which was odd!  I've had to cut the papers about a bit to lose the pre-printed images, but shhh don't tell anyone as I don't think it's that obvious :-)

The twill across the middle is also doctored as it has "it's a boy" printed on it, but only on one side - I was going to use ribbon but think this works better as it looks more like a shoe lace.

The football is a die-cut which my friend Julie cut for me, a couple of buttons and all done :-)

Teal card number 3

Slowly but surely I'm getting there with these - it's a good job that I like teal as a colour or it might be a bit of a struggle, although I think by the end of it I'll never want to see teal ever again!  There is still plenty of time for you to join in and have the chance of winning my Blog Candy

Teal Card number 2

Sunday again, and a mountain of washing and ironing awaits :-(   So a quick post so I can rattle through it and get some crafting done this afternoon :-)

Today's card is another teal one - check out my blog candy for why I am making so many like this!

The basic design is from this weeks Our Creative Corner Challenge, which is a sketch - I've flipped it and used a heart in place of the circle though so hope it still counts :-)  The image is another one by Kenny K and I have coloured her with Copics.  The heart was a rather yucky chippy that I have covered in teal glitter.

First of the teal cards

Hi, hope you are having a good weekend!

I've made quite a good start on the teal cards that I am doing for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fundraiser in OMG!!!! just over one month!

Because I am making quite a few I keeping them fairly simple, well, -ish, for me :-)  This one hasn't got masses of teal on it but it's there, subtle, but it's there

I have used one of my favourite images - Download Diva from Kenny K.

Just Gorjuss

Just a quick post from me this morning

I'm going to be honest and say I'm not totally happy with this card, I don't know why but maybe I just wasn't in the mood last night, all I'm going to say is that I'm glad it is Friday but this week has gone by just a tad too quickly for my liking :-)  Maybe I'm just being a bit hard on myself, who knows :-)

Right, no more waffling, here it is 

As you can see I got a bit carried away with the flowers!

The image is one of my Gorjuss girls, and I just love colouring their hair :-)

This one has been keeping me awake at night!

Morning!  I can't believe it's Thursday already!!  Actually it's been an OK week and work has been relatively stress free... so much so I keep thinking I've forgotten to do something!  Probably I'll have an awful day today now!

So onto todays post

How do I know I am a totally addicted cardmaker?  Well, Sunday night, when I should have been fast asleep I had this idea, and once I had the idea I was wide awake and started thinking about what I needed to do to get it to work out, what else needed to be added and so on :-)

An hour later and my brain had it all worked out and back off to the land of nod went I :-)

The only trouble was that I actually had to make the thing now!  Monday night saw part one, which was the stamping, colouring and glittering of Ruby.  I then went around her with some light and dark blue inks, then added a touch of yellow, and thought I'd wrecked it :-(. 

As I'd come this far I kept going (glad I was brave, this is a story with a happy ending!), so carried on glittering Ruby's clothes, adding chunky glitter as the snow and dotting stickles around her to make snow falling.  Why do things never dry quickly when you want them too!  

The rest of the card was assembled Tuesday night... so what do you think??  They aren't very good pics I'm afraid, the combination of the glitter and the acetate seemed to throw the camera completely - could be operator error though!

The yellow that I thought looked wrong is meant to be the light spilling out of the Lampost, but now I think it looks OK.   I've popped some yellow copics in the lights and a dot or two of glossy accents.  I've added a touch of stickles to the top of the lights and on the left hand side at the bottom to look like snow.

Oh and it's a shaker card so I have used chunky glitter in the middle, it's sticking to the acetate a bit (OK  a lot!), but think I can get away with it as it's a Christmas card :-)  I haven't done one of these in absolutely ages, but I really like the effect of the lampost jutting out into the card, which was from an idea in August's Craft Stamper.

I've just coloured Ruby with cool grey copics, and as I was colouring her it really suited her, completely different from the red I did last week but still looks really wintery- it almost looks silvery

The "Snowflakes" sentiment actually says "Snowflakes are just unassembled snowmen" but I masked the last bit off, and put a gem over the "o"

And do you know, it's not too far off what I had in my head at 2.30am Monday morning, how incredible is that!
