Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Don't get used to it, but this is my second post of the day! You can see my first card here.

The girly card that I did the other day which used a patch of my son's old jeans has given me a bit of an idea and it seemed to fit perfectly with one of the current challenges over at Creative Inspirations which is to recycle something to use on your card.
There's something about denim that lends itself to boys cards, and I know that there are some papers that give the look of denim but it's not the same!  I like to be able to feel and touch things on my cards, not be disappointed to find something is just a trick of the eye!

Sorry, rant over! Onto the card...

This image is "Simon" by Mo Manning, coloured with copics and matted onto Red Bazzill.  This image has not been printed onto Neenah cardstock and my word, I really noticed the difference!!  Neenah just doesn't bleed half as much, but I think I got there in the end (even if it bled over the edge a couple of times :-) )

Once I'd matted him I cut a bit of denim quite a bit larger out of son's jeans (no tears this time!) but cut it slightly on the bias and set about pulling out odd strands of the warp and weft (see Ms. Sewing teacher, I was listening, even if it has taken me 24 years to ever use these words in public... well kind of public!).
Oddly it was quite calming, even if my carpet now needs a damn good vacuum, and I can see I'm going to have to take the scissors to the head of the Dyson as it's all going to get wrapped round in that really annoying way!  I think I gave myself a harder job by cutting it on the bias but I like the effect it has given

Sorry, going all blah, blah, blah again :-)

The papers are by the you{th} range by Prima.  I was wanting to put a skateboard key ring that came with my eldests school coat last year - but it was far to big and I couldn't work out how to attach it without it looking daft - I'm going to have a look round and see if I can find a smaller skateboardy charm to attach to this card.

The buttons are also recyled as they came in a big bag of buttons cut off clothes which was started by HB's nan and added to by other members of his family, and I have stacked two of them up and tied them with a bit of twiney stuff - thanks Kerry for the inspiration on stacking them :-).

Hmmm, think that's it... promise to be quiet until tomorrow now :-)

Thanks for stopping by

Sue xx
